Guess who got a job again?

I start as a tasting room associate at TerraVin Cellars on Friday.

When we started talking about retirement years ago, I joked with my wife that we needed to retire to wine country so one of us could get a job at a tasting room to we could get the wine industry discount - usually 20-25% off - so we could afford to drink good wine in retirement.

The winemaker heard me last summer say I might be interested in doing it sometime down there road and he called me out of the blue this morning. Cory makes the best wine in the valley in my opinion and I’m pretty excited. It’s just on Fridays for now and that’s fine with me.

Funny how things work out.

Went to the tasting room at HH near us: https://www.hungryhawkvineyards.com/Visit-Us Lovely views & proud to support local vintners! I really enjoyed their chardonnay & viognier.

At one stage we were only doing the heavier Reds but in our Summer climate the lighter ones are also very acceptable. The Pinot is always a contrast to the CabSavs and Shiraz, as is the Spanish Tempranillo, a variety I usually enjoy.

We’ve been picking up that Tempranillo lately at the local wine shop. It’s a great value.

That....is very cool. What a retirement 'job'. Excellent and good for you.

Two seriously good bottles of wine Larry.

Good evening one et all.

I’m not sure how come I’ve not noticed this thread before. I live between France and Italy….I’m a restaurant owner, and I love my wines….

I look forward to contributing to the thread.

I’ll have to ask my friends in Escondido if they’ve been there. They’ve taken us to several of the local wineries but that name is not one I recall.

Thanks! Getting paid to taste wine and talk about it - definitely a dream job.
