Gained only 1 second.....
With all the commotion about Rolex not being accurate enough from reading this thread: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=93339 I decided to see how mine held up. I set my watch by my MacBook 3 days ago and checked it today. My Sub gained only 1 second! It's a 1997 1/2 model which makes it about 12 years old. I bought it pre-owned sans papers so I am clueless as to it's service. I'm guessing this is very good. Comments please. Thanks!

I've worn my GMT Master II for 23 years, with three services.
The watch has kept different time after each service, but it has kept consistent time after each service. After one service, the watch gained two minutes every six months, or less than a second a day. Presently, my watch gains 4.8 seconds a day, every day, day after day. If I sent this watch back to the watchmaker who serviced it, he could adjust it to gain even less per day, but I find the present regulation acceptable as long as the watch gains so consistently. If a watch gains or loses consistently, the same amount every day, I consider that watch accurate. |

I've read complaints in TRF about Rolex not being accurate enough when compared to other watches. IMO what people sometimes forget is how consistent Rolex's timekeeping is over an extended period of time. My GMT2 is 23 years old and keeps near-perfect time while a friend's Sub, which is the same age as my GMT2 and has never been serviced, also keeps wonderful time. So congrats and thanks for the reminder!

I have a 25 year old sd that was recently serviced. I wore it for 10 days straight and it was still spot on with time.gov. If I take it off at night it will gain about 2 seconds per day. It seems to keep better time if I keep it on my wrist.

Bret, mine did about the same thing when it was new... I took it in after about 5 or 6 months and they adjusted it... so much so that it was about 10 to 12 seconds FAST every day, so, I took it back. Ever since it's evened out at gaining about 3 seconds a day... well within limits and nothing I'm really going to complain about.... but I sure wish mine was one of these ones all these TRFers talk about that is perfect.... like an atomic clock or something. I don't use my watch as a hammer... why can't mine be as accurate as theirs?

I had just purchased my ss daytona and it was running 30 minutes ahead of time, i was so frantic that when i got home and i was timing it i did not do this at my ad, i sent it in to rsc and when i recieved it back this past saturday it was perfect on the decimal timing, rolex really stands behind their warranties.
THE RSC RE-REGULATED THE TIMING, PRESSURE TESTED, CLEANED AND BASICALLY A COMPLETE OVERHAUL. |

Update.....
Since posting this my 16610 has gained 6 seconds. I really do not take it off, I even sleep and most of the time shower with it on. I would reckon this is pretty good and well within COSC standards.
