Ladies vs Midsize Rolex
I'm shopping for a TT DJ for my wife. I see more and more women wearing midsize and even mens' watches. What is the group's opinion about the midsize or ladies watch for the fairer sex?
Thanks in advance, Wink |

I think they look alright, I have seen women wearing a Sub or Daytona, and they look good. It all depends on personal taste, whatever they are comfortable with.
You know her better than us. Hopefully. ![]() ![]() |

My wife has a midsize. She preferred it to the ladies size straight away.

Its a personal preference. My wife had a ladies size I gave her a midsize YM she never went back to the ladies size. One day she asked to wear my daydate 36mm she said this is perfect.Than 1 day she asked to wear my GMT and says ah this great..Needless to say the ladies size is in a box and the mid-size rarely gets worn. She wears all of my full size watches now.

I've worn men's size watches for about 5 or 6 years now and really prefer them. It's all about personal preference. I just can't wear anything under 36mm....love the 40mm as well.
I'd suggest you take your wife to the AD and have her browse the various sizes....she'll soon let you know which she prefers and it might surprise you! |

Depends on her age. If she's anywhere near young, midsize would be the starting point.

My wife´s YG Ladyoyster is a Ladies size, and that´s ok, because sold Gold bigger would "stand out" too much.
Her daily watch is a DJ Mid size in SS with WG fluted Bezel. As she stands 1,72 and is slim and trim, a smaller watch would look like a toy on her. So size is not an absolute matter, maybe? Hermann |

My wife opted for a mid-size YM and loves it! The ladies size was just too petite for her liking, so in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

This is something that you need to take up with your wife......
Mine won't wear a midsize and thinks that the Ladies size is plenty big enough... and she wears a WG/diamond sapphire tennis bracelet with it.

A trip to the AD is the best way to settle it. My wife and daughter both prefer the midsize to the ladies. It only matters what your wife likes.

My wife wore my 36mm DJ for some time and then asked me about the lady size version. I asked why and she thought 36mm was a bit too big and a bit too heavy.

My wife disliked the ladies size as it was too small. The midsize looks perfect on her wrist.

I think IMO...since Rolex are getting bigger and bigger...the new ladies watch are 31mm to 36mm right now..with th DJ 41mm readily available sooner or later the new size for ladies are 31-36mm...but i still have a lot of people looking for the ladies sizes...

I personally prefer big watches on little women.
![]() Seriously though, you might have her try them on first and see which one is more comfortable. |

I prefer either the mid-size or the 40mm. I am gradually migrating to the larger watches so please have her try them at an AD before you decide.

I concur that your should involve your wife in the process.
I happily wear the ladies' size Yachtmaster. Many of my female colleagues wear a woman's sized Date Just. Those watches look great on their wrist. I know that the larger sized watches on women are in fashion right now. I went to a local Ben Bridge and tried on the mid-sized Yachtmaster in the exact same color/style that I have (SS/platinum). The thing looked ridiculously large on my wrist. Around the same time, a woman at a nearby restaurant table also had my color Yachtmaster, in mid-size. I thought it looked too large on her wrist, too. I like the proportion of the women's size for me. That is, I don't want the face of the watch to cover my entire wrist, as a man's watch would do. (Plus, I know I would be banging and scratching the heck out of a crystal that big). My husband has the Submariner, and every now and then I put it on my wrist to see how it would look (because that style is in vogue right now). It is way, way too huge for me. I am by no means petite...I am 5'8" and wear skirt suits and heels every day to work. It is clearly a matter of personal preference. I know that many women on TRF and elsewhere love the size of a man's watch on their wrist. Once she tries on a watch, she'll know instantly what she likes. |

JJ Irani recently posted a thread about whether people should match their wrist size to their watches:-
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...ght=wrist+size Personally, I like to see women wear bigger watches, even the full-sized sports models. But not all ladies would agree and since you'd have to respect each lady's individual preferences - best to involve her in the purchase. ![]() |
