Seems sensible, at least until the tariff has settled down. One day applied, the next suspended. How can major corporations plan operations when things change so significantly on a daily basis

Agree and it is true. The UK govt was getting ready to reimburse them as well.
Rolex wouldn’t have been far behind had a change of course not happened this afternoon.

Was hoping for the typical six month downfall, six months of turbulence, and then typical grind higher. Need more buying ops.

Whatever way you look at it, or whatever happens, Rolex prices will go up.
Inflation is a mentality, its created by the perception in some cases of needing more money so as not to lose out.
It can have a snowball effect and make no mistake Rolex and AD's are not going to be left behind with less money, on the contrary they want more, more, more.
At the same time, higher prices are good for Rolex in terms of the perception of luxury.

So for those keeping score, are tariffs “good” or “bad” for the US?

Or does it change based on things both amorphous and ephemeral?

The US accounts for 2% of their GDP. Nothing over there will collapse.

I told my grocer he has been ripping me off for more than 40 years because I have been buying groceries from him at market price. I made him pay for my children's endowment funds as a punishment, and then tell my neighbours the grocer came to kiss a**. I also ordered him to give me free bottle of milk every time I visit his shop in the future. Lately, I told him I don't want the bottle of milk anymore and I have made him the happiest grocer in the world, for at least 90 days. I will see what I need again from him in 90 days...

Shhhhhhh, we need to give wealthy Wall Streeters (and emotional public non-shareholders with weak hands) a false sense of security and happiness... just before the next crushing downward spiral of 'computer warm memory bits stock market' to dash their emotions again (or escalation with a new global conflict).

Then, as shareholders and the public have little hope, BANG, here comes the loan defaults. And usually that is when many have given up hope and sell in panic.... THAT, my friend, is your entry.

Have another cup of Koolaid. The bond market killed the tariffs. How did the genius not forecast that?
