Hello,
I have a Rolex Sea Dweller 666 purchased in 1988, watch serial number '84, and the bracelet is a 93160 from February 1985 (J2). The problem is the bracelet. The watch fell and the safety lever pin is bent, as is the clasp a little. I wanted to return it to Rolex for repair, but now I see a complete clasp for a 666 with a T3 date code (1995) for sale for 450€. It's probably cheaper than having the pin replaced by Rolex. They can replace the pin and probably bend the clasp back a little.( see picture) Second problem: the bracelet is becoming to tight. My wrist has gotten thicker. ( and not only the wrist) I have a spare screw-on link, but it's the original spare one (never used) and its gloss in the middle and brushed outside. I also habe the L extender piece but again that is brand new, so brushed and mint. So if I integrate it into the bracelet, it will be very visible. And the clasp for sale has an extra link on it so that will solve the problem of the tight fit and the link is also worn ( not new like mine) Any advice on what to do? I bought this watch in 1985 new for 1500€. That time nobody( at least here in Belgium) wanted big watches especially divers like these. I have had it in for service 2 times in 39 years, so that cost me what the watch cost originally. Go to Rolex and just have them replace the pin of the safety catch on my original clasp or replace the whole clasp with a 1995 clasp but at least is wil look like the bracelet( worn and scratched up like the rest) . I’m attaching pictures of the damage on the clasp and the spare pieces I have. Had to downsize the quality a lot for the site to accept them. Thanks |
