Icon20 First on TRF? - NOT for everyone....!

New piece arrived today. Am well aware that this watch is NOT for everyone..... But wow, such great first impressions! Love the Flieger history, the precise details, the simplicity, and the super comfortable strap.

Flieger, German brand.
I like it

Is it a sandwich dial?

Cool watch! I've always appreciated this style of watch, especially from brands like Fortis. Yours, albeit a different brand to the aforementioned seems to have a lot of history behind it. Interested to learn more about your latest acquisition!

Sorry for delayed response.

This is a "Mülheim an der Ruhr" made by Laco with Erbstück treatment. Erbstuck is a process of distressing done at Laco. Each watch is different, no two alike.

While the watch may look battered and old, it feels tight and brand new. Have had my eye on this for a while and am really glad this was added to the collection. Not sure what took so long....

Yes, when you said it was "NOT for everyone", I assumed you meant the fake ageing, as it otherwise would be quite desirable. Kind of a stonewashed jeans thing.

You're right about the distressed treatment - will Laco decline repairs to the Sellita SW 200 movement due to that?

Of course any watchmaker could do the work but just wondering how that would work with Laco.

Laco does provide a warranty, but I am not sure of what the length of the warranty is. I don't see why they would decline repairs if needed. The distressing is only on the exterior of the watch.

Congrats! Wear it in good health!
Just past weekend I thought I was prepared to buy an IWC Big Pilot 43 with bronze case. In time this would have turned black.
Luckily for me, it is not produced any longer by IWC.
I say luckily, because I realised I'm not that brave.
But I appreciate the others.

The case looks to be 12mm thick.

Just a follow up for the few that are interested. The Laco continues to perform perfectly. This watch really speaks to me, and most of my friends don't seem to understand.

I love how simple and legible the fleigers are.

I’m really looking at the Big Pilot 43 to add to my collection, so I understand the attraction.
