Patek 5980/60G

What do people think of this reference? Any sense of how many they are producing? Also why such a huge premium on secondary market? Thanks!

Because it's a super cool nautilus. The denim strap caught plenty of flak initially but it's now proving to be alot more versatile than anticipated. It looks amazing when dressed smart casual and even goes superb with a navy blazer.

Anyone have any sense of how many they will make or produce a year?

From my understanding, there won't be many produced. The 5980 in all other iterations have been discontinued, so this is the last production model standing. If anyone has any insider information that would help!

Was offered twice to me - and other customers I know - from different ADs. We all declined, due to the strap options. But we are all >50 so not the target group. I went for the 5164G which looks imo way better on the wrist with a similar color scheme.

Very surprised to hear this as I know several very large collectors who are still waiting for theirs.

I am > 50 and would buy it in a heartbeat if offered to me, but it will never be offered to me :(

Maybe it is rather a European style thing with this jeans approach? I am pretty sure it is appreciated differently in other markets.

Put that ref on a gold bracelet and it’s hands down best nautilus out there right now. But I don’t really like the jeans strap it’s feels a bit too much. Who knows maybe next year for the 50th anniversary….

It's not a nautilus for someone who is looking for just the one nautilus from the collection. But in a collection of 2-3 nautilus, it definitely has a place, and is in fact, a welcome change.
