Normal for this movement, totally normal and no worries. You can wind it all the way up and that usually eliminates that jump. It's a movement design thing.

Doesn't happen if you wind up the movement sufficiently before setting the time.

Wind it up first, and then set the time.

I don't think it is acceptable for the hands to move when the crown is reseated on any watch, wound or not. It sounds like something may need a little tightening somewhere. The fully wound state increases the tension enough to pull everything tight but eventually that may not do the trick.

I hear you. My iwc jumps like crazy on the ingy. You have to set like 2 minutes behind and when the crown goes in hide it Juno’s ahead 2 mins.

That's not really what's happening... the hands aren't moving when moving the crown in and out. When the crown is out and there is a bit of back pressure, the second hand jumps back 5 seconds and holds there. If you release the back pressure, it jumps back to normal. Either way, the second hand is stopped and there is no play/movement of the minute hand.

That said, the minute hand DOES jump on my Lange Sax-O-Mat movement, which is widely thought to be an incredible movement. These are quirky things that we like to collect.

I've been receiving some emails from Czapek regarding a new release coming out on Tuesday. It will have some sort of Robot theme. Really looking forward to see what it might be.

Dear Watchlovers, dear Czapek Family Members,

In the Antarctique Rattrapante, every mechanism tells a story.
Column wheels, clamps, wheels in motion… and now, a new companion.

The face you have seen is no ornament.
It is a true actor in the complication,
its gaze shifting with every command of the chronograph.

Next week, you will meet the Antarctique Rattrapante R.U.R.

Stay tuned and get ready for September 2nd!

Again, that is something which can and should be corrected at a service. It is so hard to set the watch if the minute hand moves when the crown is pushed back against the case. Sometimes using a very light steady pressure will not move the minute hand. But who wants to deal with that on an expensive watch.

I don't think so. The teasers show the case silhouette of the Antarctique Rattrapante chrono.

Saw the mail from Czpeak. The new RUR price for US is 78,900 plus tax. Is that about $20k above the previous iteration of the Rattrapant? Good for the people who were able to acquire them early

Hi Edward,

You are correct that the Rattrapante Ice Blue introduced in March 2022 had a retail price of US$56,400.

Let's please also look at the Swiss Franc which was at 1.06 to the dollar then and 1.25 now, and our lovely 39% tariff today.

These two factors, along with inflation and rising labour costs, plus the technical advance of the isolator in the new watch, plus the cost of the robot face and color disc, set our price today in USD.

I know you are not accusing Czapek of artificially raising prices to increase our profits, but these points indeed show the reasons why the watch today is priced where it is.

Best,

Mike Margolis

Thanks for the details. The point of my message is just calling out that it was a relatively good deal if one could acquire the Rattrapante a couple of years ago unless the new advancement is important to the buyer.
