GMT Master II - Newbie question
I am looking at purchasing a GMT Master II (stainless steel version). What is the current retail price and what is the latest series number? Also, when are new series usually realsed (i.e. is 2010 coming out soon). Is there some place to go to for these questions/lists? Thanks...and sorry for the amateur question.

MSRP in the US is $7000 for stainless and current serial numbers start with V or M. Rolex doesn't really have model years, most of the watches stay the same for years with occasional changes.

I guess what I'm asking is the production date...I was under the impression that V is the "latest production date." Is that true? Thanks again. Also, with respect to price...is the working assumption that no authorized dealer will negotiate price? Thanks.

The current version was introduced in 2005, probably will not be a newer version for another 10+ years.

I'm not sure on the GMT though, from what I've seen even the gray dealers are only giving a few hundred $ off list. |

MSRP in Canada is $8140 for a ss GMTII V series.
The best deal I got at an AD (in Canada) was 25% off the TT GMTII, this summer. Check the buying/selling forums for your best deal. |

if you don't have an issue with preowned, then get one from one of the sellers here.

Welcome to TRF Mike. The "newest" serial GMTIIc's have a "V" but it is the same watch as the Z or M, just more recently manufactured. I got mine at a local AD here at 20% discount to MSRP late in the month. Should be able to get one in NYC to the same. Alternatively, if you're comfortable, I have seen sellers on TRF at that price point and even slightly lower with blank papers.
Good luck, keep us posted as to how you make out! Cheers, Chris |
