Entry into Rolex world - Milgauss!
Well, I have only been on this forum for a short time. Thanks for everyone's input, great photos and reviews, and enthusiasm. I turned 60 a month ago, and decided to go all out on my first Rolex.
I looked at a number of models last week, including Explorer I, Air King, Perpetual, GMT IIc and Milguass. With the exception of the GMT II, all the others were dials with no date window - a huge preference for me. With all the beautiful dials, I just feel that they detract rather than add. The one watch, which is a model I have lusted after more than just about any other watch since the new one came out in 2007, is the Milgauss. I knew that if I got one of the other models, as much as I like them I would regret not getting the Milgauss. Here is a photo borrowed off the web, when I get the watch on Friday will try to post some wrist shots: Photo courtesy of Timetapestry.blogspot.com I chose the black dial with the plain crystal, I like the green but with the combo of orange and white markers, plus the small numbers at the ends of the markers, just a bit too busy for me. The black with plain crystal has just the small orange markers. I love the lightning bolt second hand in orange, and I think it looks great with the plainer dial and crystal. They are all gorgeous - including the white dial - but this is my preference. Cheers, Carl |

I have one just like it, you'll love it. Nice and heavy, easy to read. You be hard pressed to see another in the wild.

You mean, "hard to read," Jun, or simply unappealing?

I bought my dad that same watch and it's his daily wearer. Just turned 60 as well. Enjoy!

Happy belated birthday. I think treating yourself to a Rolex for your 60th was a great idea. Once you put one on your wrist, it is sooo nice knowing it is there. You picked a great looking watch. Your friends here are looking forward to seeing some wrist shots when your new baby arrives.
