Help Old GMT

Well a friend of mine got this at a estate sale. No box or papers only a receipt from Jared's for a service in 2008. He is wanting to sell it but I have some questions about it.

1. Dial is gloss with GMT MASTER on it, has Superluminova, acrylic crystal and jubilee bracelet. Is this correct for the year I would assume it should have Tritium.
2. How old is it? Serial 86560xx
3. Good sale price?

Bad cell phone pic.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks like the serial number dates it to the mid 1980's. This combined with the acrylic crystal would identify it as a 16750. This would have had a Tritium dial however with the recent receipt for service, it is likely that it received a RSC repalcement Superluminova dial. You can identify this with the SWISS marking as opposed to the original SWISS - T < 25.

Here is a TRF review of a similar watch also with SWISS replacement dial. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=7010
Also - check out the Orchi's excellent GMT dial thread at: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=77719

I sold the 1675 (below) this Summer with recent RSC service and a SWISS repalcement dial here on TRF a little over $3k. I'd expect your friend's to be similar value.

Your pics are bad but a GMT 16750 1985 86xx serial would be a white gold dial not matte.A GMT from 1985 with a plastic crystal can only be a 16750. Recent prices on these are from $2300-$3700

As stated sounds like a 16750 with a service replacement dial.

Also the bezel is really hard to turn no clicks goes both ways. Is that normal for an older watch. I am considering buying it 2K or should I pass.

Yes. It's a bi-directional friction fit. Push down slightly on it. It'll turn much easier.

If you don't buy it-- I will. I think $3,000 to $4,000 would be a decent price.
