Yup! Tropic 19 (usually found on 5513 and 5512's) has the same dimensions, minus the magnifier, as the tropic 127.
I just prefer the clean look, although still have the original 127 if I ever wish to go back. |

I don't understand what a tropic dial is then. I thought it was a dial with a circle connected to the dial marker lines.

When I mention Tropic 19 or Tropic 127, it is the description of the dimension, shape and style of the crystal, nothing to do with the dial at all. Not quite sure why the manufacturer uses the word tropic in the name. Would be easier to say: Rolex Crystal #19 instead I suppose.
Anyway, to make things confusing, a Tropic dial refers to a slightly faded rolex dial, that when new was black, but has over time faded to a nice brownish colour. That's the simple description. My 1680 is not one of them. Hope that helps. |

Quote:
Tropical Dial is a dial with discolouration associated to it. ie: turning brown as an example. |

Dadswatch. The picture you posted above is a tropical dial because of the discolour, and chapter ring because of the outer ring attached the the markers.

Ok, thanks. So they call the brownish dials tropical. Are they the same dials that are called "chocolate"??

Ok, sooooo....chocolate is the same as tropical and tropical is the same as chocolate (unless its the crystal your talking about). You said "sometimes". Does this get more confusing???

Might one guess that a tropic crystal is designed not to focus an already overbearing sun onto the dial below?
