I think that's my next outdoor hobby. I need to burn off some peanut chicken and my knees can't handle running.

I've been riding mountain bikes for about 20 years, and this one is my fourth one in that timeframe. Start with a good frame and build the bike that suits your style, and the terrain. Three years ago I ditched the hardtail for a full suspension, and it's a whole new world, especially down here where the terrain is anything but smooth.

Out of curiosity, what's your next purchase?

This little puppy just carried me to a Masters class win at a national-level moutain bike race last month. I can't say enough good things about Santa Cruz...excellent bikes:

That's me in front, getting ready to cross the finish line, with second place right behind me. The guy in the red was in the Open class so he let me and the other dude duke it out.

I placed 1st out of 119 in my class, and 16th overall out of 414 in the race.

Way to go my friend !!! is that a Heckler or a Blur ?? My ride buddy has a Heckler...very funny and enjoyable bike indeed.

My next purchase will be a full of course. I'm enjoying my front but it's time to update.
I was considering a Scott Genius 10 but my local Scott dealer is one obnoxious and very rude guy wich inherited it's business from his dad,he just don't deserve my patronage.
So I'm choosing a france brand called Lapierre, wich is at the moment entering the USA and CANADA market. I've heard some great stuff about those bikes.
I'm getting their top of the line cross country/marathon bike, the X control 910 , full carb and XTR and lot's of other goodies !!!

Yep, I've heard of Lapierre. I buy a lot of Spanish mtb magazines down here, and Lapierre is all over the place in them. They're available here in Mexico, but I have not seen them in the US, yet.

That one you show w/ the full XTR, Mavic feet, and Fox suspension is SWEET looking. Toss in full carbon....10.2-11.0 kilos, probably! Very nice!

I'd hate to see the cost, as I know the full carbon Scott Genius is pushing $6-8K, depening on how you outfit the suspension and wheels.

Mine is a Santa Cruz Blur LT 1, with a combo of XT and XTR, Industy Nine wheels and hubs (DT Swiss rims), Fox RP23 rear suspension, Fox Talas RLC front suspension, WTB titanium seat, Thompson aluminum swayback seatpost and Easton carbon bars. It tipped the scale at 25.7 lbs (11.6 kilos) three years ago when I got it, and has lost some weight with the Kenda Small Block 8 tires (~480 grams).

Since this picture I've put on some Specialized tires, which weigh a little more (~525 grams), but have a much softer rubber compound (good on the dry boulders).

Racing the Blur is quite nice also, as I'll use all of the rear suspension in race (130mm), and most of the front (140mm). I've found with the full suspension, I don't have to slow down going downhill nearly as much, and can bomb through and over rocks that would buck me off a hardtail bike.

Take my word for it...full suspension rocks!!!

Yep, that's what it looks like where I live.

Except it's the desert, and there's no water.

And there's nothing green.

We do have buttloads of rocks. And lots of sand.

Sweet looking place to ride you have there......for sure!
