When will new serial numbers start?

Any idea when Rolex will start the next letter of new serial numbers? It seems like they do one every year or so. So a new letter seems overdue.

Noone other than Rolex will know that.......+ there is a slight chance(albeit a rumor)that Rolex may change the serial numbers to make it harder to determine it's manufacture date!!!! Don't quote me or hold your breath on that......So it may end up being numbers and letters in any particular sequence...... I personaly hope thay do.......!

So, Last year, they had Z carryover, and introduced the M, then at the end of the year, they introduced the V... Simple math would mean that that is a little over 2 million possible serials numbers... With sales down, let's say 20% (although some sources say 40%) from Rolex ~800,000 per year, they only need to cover 1,300,000 watches during 2008 and 2009... By the end of 2009, they will still have over 700,000 serials left over with M and V.... and maybe a few Z's of the rare models.. That could still carry them through 2010 without releasing any new letters... So, It might be a few months still.......

Its not a date stamp as such, its a serial number, which helps with insurance, identification if stolen, etc.. It just so happens to also indicate the approximate date. Whats to hate?

Nothing to do with the serial its just a series case date a approximation when the case was stamped.

Why do they call them serial numbers then? You would of thought they would of called them case numbers.
