How to keep a recently serviced Rolex in pristine cond???

Hi guys and gals,

Anyone have a step by step process for maintaining a beautifully new looking watch?

I just got one of mine back and I want to keep it in the best shape possible, oils from the skin/moisturisers are an issue as I wear moisturiser, I want to keep it in pristine condition.

Everyone has their own methods of keeping it pristine , my best suggestion don't wear it and wipe it!!!

Simple answer just plain soap and water that will keep any oyster watch in good condition.

Other than making it a safe queen?

1. Don't use lotion in that area.
2. Wash it occasionally.
3. Only wear it when needed (not at home or sleeping, for example)
4. Wear long sleeves.
5. Don't wear it when performing strenuous activities or when it is likely to come into contact with harder materials.
6. Send it to me. I'll keep it purdy for ya.

Yup, the less you wear the less you tear .... so less wear and tear and that's what you need to keep it looking pristine ...

Wear it under long sleeves ... be wary of where you put your hands and do not bang your hand against anything ... as soon as you come home, take it off ... the watch that is ....and pamper and TLC it and it will return the favor!!!

You know, the amaxing things is that I get just as much joy looking and wiping my watches, as I do wearing them .... just see them shine and look pretty makes me feel how lucky I am to own them .... but i also do occassionally wear them from time to time...

i tried to keep mine nice.. i wear it 24/7, daytime, nightime, bedtime, in the shower, everywhere..i only take it off to clean it with a soft cloth, which i used to do daily..but now that turned into every few days..

see.. you try keep it nice, but once you get the odd mark or two on it.. that all goes out the window. i say your still in the honeymoon period with your pristine watch, but once youve been looking at it for a month or two, the tlc starts to reduce.

ive got a new tt arriving very soon, i'll be in the honeymoon phase with that one for a while yet!

I would wear a tennis 'sweat' wrist band

covering it, or place it behind glass.

Funny thing is that when I wear long sleeves the mosituriser moves from inside the shirt on to the case and bezel... Unbelievably annoying! My wife barks at me when I am in public wiping it on my shirt (which causes fine scratches I am told) I used to wash the watch in a tupperware container with warm water and dish washing detergent but apparently the detergent may be a little too strong for the the polish/finish on the band and case.

So, just plain jane soap with warm water?

Store it at night on a soft cloth, wear long sleeves, use a cloth to open the clasp (not your fingernail), avoid cleaning it on your shirt near the buttons, don't put it in your pocket with your keys, wipe it daily with a soft cloth, etc. etc., etc. But do wear it as it's meant to be worn.

Would a different type of lotion work?

wash it w/ soap & lukewarm water......dry it w/ 100% cotton cloth.....then polish....if it's SS I use Brasso....gold or gold & SS jewelers polish.
And like other posts say....if you're doing something where you may bash the watch wear another watch or none at all.
I have a basic black plastic/resin/whatever Casio that I use for working around the house & yard, cleaning cars etc.

This is going to sound crazy..... But I tend to drag my clasp across my desk as I work which causes scuffs across the grain. So now I take a piece of thick clear scotch tape and stick it on the clasp. I then trim it close to the edges by sliding a blade down the sides. It is like putting a screen protector on your phone.

I agree ,watches are ment to be enjoyed by wearing .if you owned a Ferrari would you drive 20 miles an hour as to not wear out the engine, I think not !

Wear it and enjoy it! Obsessing over scratches takes away the enjoyment of it! Unless you plan on selling it soon then don't worry about it.
