Just went to my AD and he showed me a $650,000 watch! (no, not the GMT Ice)

I went to my AD today to check out the new Datejust "Special Edition" for my wife. Looks awesome, but the dial is a little busy. She prefers a white MOP dial.

Then the SA asked if I wanted to see what a $650,000 looks like....of course I said heck yes!

It's the Girard Perregaux 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon. First off, I told him I have no idea what brand that is. Then I asked him what's so special about it. He explained that it has a Jackpot you can play on the watch. There's a handle on the right side like a slot machine that you pull. The slot spins just like a real slot machine very smoothly. It's a mechanical marvel, but at $650K? I don't know . I enjoyed the experience and found it very interesting and thought I share it with you guys.

what "special edition" datejust is that? I kind of like it...does it come in any other colors and is it the standard 36mm or the new dj2 41mm size?

It looks like you were so nervous at holding a watch that expensive you had a hard time getting a clear photo. Lol I don't blame you! I would have had to change pants...

LOL.....I was nervous! And that's exactly why the photos were a little blurry. All the photos were taken by the same phone.

With $650k you could buy a solid gold Sub, Daytona, GMTIIc, YM, Day-date and Datejust - and still have plenty of change for the wife to spend!!

I have to admit that I coould spend 650.000 usd on a watch if I had the means , I would however not be that one . I'd stay with P.Patek , Breguet etc..

That watch would be great to take to a poker tournament. But I think I would need to win the poker world series to pay for it!

It's the 34mm DJ. It comes in other dials and WG also.

I like the gambling side if the watch.. I play with the Daytona, just to see how good I am making it stop exactly at a certain marker......

I recall hearing about this 'slot machine' watch before. Nice to actually see it. Still not my cup of tea. Would be a great present for a casino owner.

I am sure that the GP would tempt someone, just not sure who though! I can think of a handful of watches that I would like to have and still not come close to spending that much.

for $650k, i'd buy a row of slots and put them in my basement...rest of the $$ get one of each of the high end watches for my collections.
