Your feedback please - Price for Ladies SS DJ

Hey gang, Please provide feedback on if this is a good deal.

Looking for a Rolex for my wife's 40th Birthday / X-Mas present at a authorized dealer.

Watch details:
Ladies DateJust: 26mm
Stainless Steel with white Roman Numeral face...no diamonds
Jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel.

Watch list price is $6,000. Sales person was giving $15% off, ability to ship anywhere out of state to avoid taxes, and 4 year warrenty.

Sales person also mentioned that the owner has already "purchased" the watch, so is interested in moving that inventory off the books before the end of the year.

Is $5,100 a good deal?

Thanks everyone...have a good holiday.

Agree in this economy you should be able to get that much especially on a ladies watch.

And even more so on a "used" watch.

I got the exact same watch for my wife a few months ago except black dial. Bought it grey market for 25% off shipped from alanfurman.com, V-serial, no tax, with credit card. I wish you good luck with your deal.

My thoughts exactly. I would ask what the serial number is and then come back to TRF with that info. I was in an AD last week and they had an F serial ladies watch...in other words a brand new watch that had been sitting there at least 4 years. So how is this important? With each price increase, an AD will add that increase to all of their stock...so watches that have been sitting there get their prices jacked up too. That watch might have had an original MSRP of say, $4000-$4,200. So if this is true, they really are not giving you a deal at all....IMO of course.

Tell him 25% or no deal....and that's if it's an M or V serial. Ladies watches just don't sell like the mens...and some ladies like mens watches anyway....you are in the driver seat on this.

Thanks for the feedback...keep it coming.

I have sent an inquiry to the AD this evening, and will post once I receive a response. Coop Jr., Good point about the time spent in the store to calculate how much mark up is on the watch.

Thanks again for your help.

Had one made for the wife for x-mas. (Jubilee/fluted white gold/romans on a black sunburst) Ordered it 4 months ago and got it for less than 5k, but me and this AD have a great relationship.
