Tourneau passing off used Rolexes as new??

I recently just purchased a Lady's Gold President for my mother from Tourneau. I had the watch shipped to my mother to save on taxes. However, upon receipt of the watch, there are clear scratches on the side and the protective tape on the watch was not there when I received it. It almost looks like its been worn slightly.

Anybody else have this experience when purchasing a new Rolex? I assume this is not the norm. It might just be because this was a display case version but I would have though they would have kept the protective tape on as well.

Tourneau is very overpriced, some of the used watches are unbelievably priced. I'm guessing you're talking about the big Tourneau Time Machine in NYC?

Welcome to TRF!

Sorry to hear about your experience. Unacceptable for any AD

Thanks, glad to be on here. I am referring to the big time machine in midtown manhattan. I think the customer service at Tourneau is pretty weak but Ive found they can offer better prices than some of the other ADs here in NYC because of their scale. However, Im pretty disappointed with what happened on this purchase - not sure what my options are

If you are not happy, take it back and ask for another one or a refund. I had another AD send me a Rolex several years ago...when I received it they had removed the plastic stickers and there was a scratch on the bracelet. I called them and they took it back and got me another (and left the stickers on it this time).

As Cameron has said, you could go back and get it returned. I usually stay away from Tourneau. My dad got his Cartier battery replaced there, and they couldn't even do a competent job. They charged him $100 just to make scratches on the caseback and they put the gasket back wrong. But this was a while back.

As stated earlier, return the watch and ask for a new one or refund. You should be within their 30 day return policy.

I've seen this at ADs...particularly ones that take worn pieces in for full refunds within a certain time period. Return it as mentioned here, ask for one with full plastics or take your business elsewhere. Tourneau is horrible in any case.

That's terrible! Tourneau is known for it's terrible customer service though, and I wouldn't put it past them. Walk right back into the store with the watch and ask what's up, if you don't it's just letting them walk all over you.

If they are doing that, isn't that false advertising and fraud and you have the right to get a refund?

Turdneau strikes again!!!

Sorry. Welcome to TRF.

I think you should either get the exact watch + some compensation for the screw up...or get refund / get the watch elsewhere!!!

Generally, Tourneau is a place to look at watches, not a place to buy. The salespeople are generally friendly, but the prices are very high.

Although not a fan of the Tourneau group, first you got to prove it was a second hand watch. Now gold watches are quite poor sellers, and its possible it was a display model. And gold being a softer metal its possible it got scratched, now even display watches are still classed as new.And the warranty starts from the time it was sold. But agree even if it was a display model it should be perfect in every way.Or if sold with a scratch the buyer told and the price reduced accordingly.A difficult one because the buyer had the watch shipped, but myself would get in-touch with Tourneau to explain the problem.
