I take back everything I said.....

Previously, I have been a critic of the Daytona series watches. I never understood why they were so popular.

For some reason, I am now pulled toward them. I love the polished bezel.

You might even see the white gold with white dial in my next posts.

So I guess I am joining the rest of you Daytona fans, I am now on board.

Thanks,
Ralph

Ralph,

When I first developed an interest in Rolex watches and bought a standard TT DJ, I of course immediately started looking at other models. I lived in Singapore, where it is easy to window shop for watches everyday and see just about every model. I remember looking at Daytonas and not being impressed. When one of the ADs tried to explain to me why the SS Daytona commanded a higher price than the TT, I thought, "that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard." At some point, however; I'm not sure when; everything just clicked for me and now I'm a Daytona addict (SS, TT, or all gold). The sleek lines of the watch, the way the watch sits on my arm, yes, the polished numbered bezel, and the way the pushers fit into the case; just everything; it all clicks for me. No matter what I wear, I always gravitate back to the Daytona.

The SS Daytona really is a great watch. I have had mine on for about 36 hrs and am loving it - everything about it, weight, feel, look. Interestingly, when I was looking around here a while back contemplating the purchase, I really gravitated towards the black dial. A white dial one came available first around the price I was looking for. I bought it and I can truly say that for me in person the white is stunning. I saw a black face at the AD last week and (for me) I can say that I am happy I went with white.

Welcome to the club , I have owned one since 2004 and recently had the fortune ( who knows I did actually do the stupidest thing which I might find out in years to come …) to exchange it for the latest model available . I also have a SDDS (who gets the most wrist time of all) , just got a GMT2c for Xmas and I should have a DJ2 early next year . I can however assure you if for some reason I had to start laying of my watches the SS Daytona would be the last to go . I just love that watch , I understand that some people think it is artificially hyped up with the SS model ... but once you own one you can see why .
Wear it in good health

I'm not a fan of the steel Daytona myself, but with the right dial on it, the WG version is a truly beautiful watch

The daytona is the best looking watch I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

I admit it as well... I am liking the SS / White or Black Dial as well. Just to dear a purchase at $10K.

Otto - Dying to know what the AD told you re: why the SS Daytona commanded a higher price than the TT. Was it simply artificial / demand & supply or??
