I have been trying to buy a replacement watch for one that was stolen. Unfortunately the Sea Dweller 16600 is now fairly hard to find. I located a couple of second hand ones, but then found a site that indicated it could get a new one. I was sceptical, but decided to give it a go.

I had a look through this forum first, to find out what I could about them, but only found one reference to them. I have to say it was not particularly complimentary. Knowing I could always use my credit card chargeback and cancel payment if things didn't work out, I gave them a call, and asked them to confirm their answers by e-mail. This is what they wrote
Many thanks for your enquiry this morning regarding the Rolex Seadweller 16600. As we discussed my supplier has one of these watches in stock and we would be able to get it to you within 7 working days from the day the order is placed. This particular model is an M series, the watch comes with the manufacturers warrantee and all the paper work will be in your name. The warrantee will be dated as the watch is sent out to you. Your watch will then be delivered via registered post that will need to be signed for and we will send you an email with the tracking number so you can track you order on line.
Eight working days later, I called them to find out the status of my order. I could not get through. I left several voice messages, and e-mailed them, but never got an answer. Finally I used their web-chat facility, and got through.
They said their supplier had decided to send it with another order, that it would take 3-4 more days.
3 days later, I called them back (well, actually called them over a dozen times without success, then e-mailed and finally contacted them by web-chat. They told me UPS were about to deliver it.
After holding for over an hour on web-chat, then repeatedly harrassing them as they continually failed to contact me, they said that the order had arrived with UPS in two parts, and that part 2 had become separated from the main order. It would be with me the next day. They assured me they would send it round by courrier to get to me within an hour.
The following day, after calling them another half a dozen times, web-chatting and harrassing them incessantly, they told me the wrong watch had been sent, and they would again contact the supplier to ask them to send it. They said I would definitely get it today. They apologised and indicated they would compensate by reducing the cost by £100. They would call me in the morning regardless of the situation to confirm.
Guess what? No call this morning, so I called them. They said the watch would arrive in the afternoon. They would call me by 17:30.
Guess what? They didn't. I contacted them by web-chat, and was told their manager was on the phone to UPS, and the package would definitely arirve tonight, after which they promised to send it round by motorbike. They would call me in an hour.
Guess what? 2 hours, and no call.[/LIST]
At this stage, I am not sure what to do. The staff seem genuinely nice and willing to help, but totally unable to resolve the situation. Meanwhile, the model is not available anywhere else. I keep hoping that somehow, the watch will show up, but I am beginning to have the nagging suspicion they are no closer to getting the watch to me than ever before. I have also wondered whether it is all a scam, but although I have read a few more negative reviews about them, I have found nothing to suggest anything like that.

It has now been 19 working days.

Does anyone here have a suggestion, or any experience at all with this retailer? My current thinking is wait a few more days, and then call my credit card company to cancel the order.

I'd appreciate advice. Meanwhile, I will update this thread to keep you informed of what happens.

Many thanks!

You're quite correct in your concern.

If it were me I'd get straight onto the Credit Card provider and get them to reverse the payment. The are jointly liable for the non delivery of your watch.

Deal with someone more professional. The V serial SDs do crop up occasionally in the sales forums and trusted UK grey dealers.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to leave it until Thursday, and then seek advice from my credit card provider. I may be deluding myself, but probably worth one final shot!

Thanks for the support!

I have spent the last five days repeatedly on the phone to them, and asked them for a daily update.

At first, they continued to assure me that the watch would be received by Friday, and said their supplier had lied ot them and didn't actually have the watch in stock at the time, but were sending it now.
Subsequently, they said that actually their supplier didn't have one, but are stil hoping to get one to me tihs week.
I also note that the £100 that they promised last week to credit back onto my card has still not reached me

The staff continue to give the impression of trying to be helpful, but I must admit that this company has serious management problems, and I am fast giving up hope. I shall be complaining to local Trading Standards.
I will continue to post updates on here - just in case they actually do manage to deliver.

However, given the choice, I would advise anyone looking for a watch that is still available to avoid the stress and hassle, and not choose to buy from deliciouswatches.co.uk or deliciousdiamonds.co.uk ever.

Conclusion - how the story ended

Dear all

I received an enquiry from a forum member currently undergoing a similar experience, which reminded me that I really should share the conclusion to the story. I hope it can be of some help to others.

Dear JAC-London

I am in a nightmare with this company, that looks a lot a like your story.

When i mentioned you post here on rolex forums, they told me that you have got a refund, is that right? I am asking because i am thinking of the same, but have my doubt on i will get it, therefore i am asking.

Kind regards
Kim - DK
Hi Kim

Thank you for getting in touch, and apologies for not posting the end of the story. However, I am glad if what I have written so far has been of some help. I can very much imagine the difficulties you have gone through. Luckily, I think what I am writing below will be good news:
  • After my last post, I gave them one more week to come up with the watch, and told them that I would demand a refund. The person dealing with me on the phone was very helpful, and assured me that he had every confidence that their supplier would be able to deliver the watch on time. He even called me daily (as promised) to update me on the situation.
  • However, when the target date of 14 December arrived, there was still no watch, so I asked for a refund. I told him that if the refund did not arrive within 10 working days, I would contact my bank to register a dispute. (Under the Mastercard rules, the card holder has 90 days to request a full refund from the issuer if they can prove that the service for which they paid was not provided as described).
  • He e-mailed me that same evening to inform me that the refund had been processed.
  • I did not need to contact my card isuer again as the full amount showed on my credit card one week later.

Deliciousdiamonds told me that the issue had been with two of their suppliers, who had informed them that they had the watches in stock, and then failed to deliver. Deliciousdiamonds said that those suppliers had obviously intended to get the watches after they had received the order, but failed to do so. I asked them how they would deal with those suppliers - whether perhaps they would penalise them by no longer buying from them - but Deliciousdiamonds told me they could only do that for a few days, as they needed their suppliers.

Deliciousdiamonds appear to have no way of "punishing" suppliers, which means it is extremely likely that this kind of story will happen again. On this basis, given any choice, I would not choose to buy again from Deliviousdiamonds. I am relieved however that I was able to get my money back without too much further fuss. I am also glad to note that they have now removed the Sea Dweller from their online watch catalogue - though this was only done in the last couple of weeks.

On this basis, I believe that they should be able to process your refund as they did mine. However, it is important that ask for the refund with enough time to contact your credit card issuer if deliciousdiamonds do not refund. Ideally, you should ask for the refund within 60-70 days of making the original credit card payment. Then if the payment still does not arrive 10 days later, you still have 10 days to get your money from your credit card issuer.

I wish you the very best of luck.
