Going back to the basics.
So I just got rid of my Sub (16610) and now I have another SS DJ heading my way. Most people would say that I'm going about things backwards, but I disagree.
Once I sold the my old DJ and bought the Sub, I knew that I had made a mistake. Don't get me wrong, the Sub is an excellent watch. It's beefy and was as accurate as the best of them. But I missed the way that the DJ felt on my wrist. With that said, I'm going back to the basics and it feels great. Has anyone ever done this? Sure, I could scrape up the funds and own both, but I feel that I wouldn't be able to give both the wrist time that they deserve. Hence why I'm only going to get one Rolex and call it a day. |

I see nothing wrong with it all. Its what YOU like after all. Some dont prefer the Submariner. I love them myself, but actually prefer a GMT II on a jubilee over a Sub, but only slightly.
I would love to have a yellow gold date date, but wouldnt want to wear it every day either. Datejust are every bit as iconic and classic as a Sub is. Wear it well. |

I sold my DateJust last year for a Explorer II and I always regretted it. Something about a DJ. If I see a great deal on one, I'm definitely going to hop on it.

There's a lot to be said for owning just one good watch and using it all the time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..
NEVER EVER SELL YOUR DATEJUST!!!! (especially if it was your first). You will guaranteed have regret. With that being said, I'm happy to hear that your getting a DateJust again. The Submariner is great, but like you mentioned, there's nothing like the feeling of a DateJust on your wrist. |

I guess a good "rule of thumb" might be to NEVER sell any Rolex unless you absolutely have to do so!

There's a reason why the DJ likely outsells the rest of the line combined... It is the most recognizable watch in the world....

I'm a HUGE DJ fan and if that's what you love, then you're doing the 'right' thing
I wear my DJ WAY MORE than my Sub....just more comfy and I like some bling. |

I agree, the DJ feels ''different'' on the wrist.

DJs have been around since 1945,
and the older ones are simply elegant! |

I have both, but prefer my Sub. As they say, if it fits you, go for it !!!

Love my DJ.
I can see an Explorer feeling the same way, on the wrist anyway. |

Yes DJ is a must in ant Rolex collection . I have 3 great sports models ( SS DAYT , SDDS , GMT2c) but I felt that a SS/WG DJ was missing . So I got that new DJ2 coming next week .
You should wear what you like most , I wore a second hand 1603 for about 12 years without taking it off . It was the only Rolex I had as couldn't afford another one then. |

A sport and a DJ make a great casual/formal combination that covers all situations. I'd love to add a WG or platinum DD, but it will likely end up being a SS/WG DJ instead.

I did the same thing recently.
But having, as result of downsizing my collection, only the DJ (after a short while) i missed the 40 mm sportwatch. As a compromise to myself i elected the YM Platty. IMHO a bling updated Sub-date with dress-watch looks.

Doesn't matter what watches you sold, it matters that you get the watch you truly want.
