1930's Solow Mystery ?

Hello RF,

Maybe you guys can help me solve a watch mystery. Yesterday I bought a circa 1930's Solow step case watch with an A. Shield Swiss Movement. Made by the Solow Watch Company. I have exhausted all major search engines on the net with no luck. I could not find one shred of information! I have attached some pictures. Thanks in advance.

Tony

Hi Tony. Welcome to TRF!!

I am not familiar with that watch or the Solow Watch Company at all, but if anyone would know about it, it would be one of our premier vintage watch experts, Peter (padi56). Hopefully, he will be around to respond to your thread. If not, just PM him regarding your inquiry.

Cheers, and enjoy your time on TRF!

Update:

The correct movement name is: A. Schild S.A. (Now owned by Swatch 1983)

7 Jewel Movement. Movement model number still unknown.

I still cannot find anything about the Solow Watch Company.

The case is time period correct as the watch is VERY similar to the late 20's, early 30's Bulova Art Deco style watches with the step cases.

The search goes on, very time consuming but fun !

Solow may very well have been a retailer instead of a watch company. Years ago a retailer could have the store's name printed on the dial when they bought a certain number of watches from a manufacturer.
