I'd be okay with it.
Still works fine...it's like losing the hood on your car. The engine is okay, it's just wrapped to look pretty and make it a bit more aerodynamic. Now the horizontal stabilizer that may have been hit by the piece of cowling...that I'm worried about. Cheers, Steve-O

Actually, this is a real picture I remember seeing it on a credible aviation website and the maintenance write up after......it would not be the first time something has fallen off an aircraft.

And, of course, we can presume the aircraft made it safely back to base....otherwise the photographer would not be alive to tell the tale (and show us that pic)!!

That picture is the equivalent of driving down the highway and haveing your hood flip open because you didn't close it properly. At those speeds, parts will just tear off if they're in the airstream. |
