Australia members...(weather question)
Hello TRF,
This is a shout out to all my fellow members from down under!! I am departing for Australia next week. I was wondering what you recommend as far as clothing to pack. What is the weather like this time of year? Do I need a light jacket? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks, Matt P.S. Anyone free between Feb 2nd and Feb 9th in Sydney, Id love to get together!! I am staying at Shangri-La Hotel. |

Matt, I am not from Australia, but I have been watching the news lately and apparently, it is REALLY hot down there. Melbourne beat a 100-year-old heat record the other day, with temperatures of 35 degrees celsius (AT MIDNIGHT).
So, if I were you, I would pack some shorts and lots and lots of water |

Well, in Melbourne, last Thursday was 36C daytime and went down to like 23C at 3am.
Yesterday it was 23C daytime and 10C at night. It's 13C now (Sunday 9am) highest expected today 26C. You really have to check with the weather bureau just before you leave. http://www.bom.gov.au The forecast is usually pretty close/spot on. Melbourne is famous for "4 seasons in a day". You can get a cool change in a 45C day and it gives 20C temp drop in 30 min. BTW cool changes always come with some rain. Sydney is milder but also more humid. |

Hey Matt, have a safe flight over, when it comes to clothing, I agree with the guys, I'd pack shorts and shirts and a couple pairs of jeans for the cold days :-) remember if all fails you can always buy a few items here.
Let us know when you are here, GTG time

The weather is all over the place in Sydney - low 40's yesterday (that's celcius), today it is overcast and low 20's. Daytime you can definitely get around in short-sleeve and be very comfortable. Some evenings it is a little bit muggy but most nights a jacket is okay, but not mandatory by any stretch.

Hi Matt,
Enjoy your visit. Are you just going to Sydney or are you travelling around? If you get to Adelaide you'd better ring me.
