Help me decide, is the DJ for me?

I have had allsorts of sports watches. Military style, divers and aviators.... but at 40+ yrs I think I'd like a DJ for dress and a hand down piece.

What is the sense of you DJ owners on the 36mm dress vs. the 44mm sport watch sizes? I think I can pull it off... I have a smaller Seiko (wedding watch) a wear at times...

Big...

Bigger

Biggest...

and the little one.... this is a 37mm I think

any thuoghts? I am in a suit at least once a week..... at court.

Looks like you definitely need a change up!

DJ at 36 or 41 would be just the ticket.

Welcome to TRF! You really should be getting yourself a Rolex!
Love your collection. The Breitling Avenger (Skyland or SA?) is always a favourite, albeit very large.
I had a Skyland Avenger Blacksteel, and also a Seawolf '09 Stainless steel. I wish now that I had kept the Seawolf, it is nice to have a large watch one in a while to "scratch the large watch itch."
However, I am now more than happy with the smaller "midsize" watches. I own three of them - all Omegas - and one more, a Rolex Explorer, to come this week. I love the size.
I think the DateJust is perfect. I saw a lot of different variations yesterday at my AD. It actually wears larger than it looks. It comes in so many different configurations, you are bound to find one that suits your fancy. I saw one with combo steel/Everose gold and black dial with arabics that was a beauty. My AD had a 14-year-old Steel with yellow gold and fluted bezel, with the Oyster bracelet. It barely looked a couple of years old. I was amazed. I think more than any watches I have seen, the Rolexes just seem to be more timeless than others. I don't think you can go wrong at all. And I don't think the size will be a problem for you. Perfect size for a dress watch.
I also think it is the DateJust II that is now at 40 or 41mm if 36mm is too small. My Milgauss is 40mm, and the size is great! My Omega AT is 41.5mm, and I just find it a bit too large. If you stay with 36-40mm you should be a happy guy!
Cheers,
Carl

I think the 36mm will be best in terms of a timeless watch - simplicity and understatement work well when it comes to a DJ. You'll be able to pull it off, 36mm ain't that small

I almost forgot. The DJ Turn-O-Graph is another great option for you. It is still dressier than what you have, but to me it can also be the best of both worlds. That is one watch you could wear with anything, and also a great heirloom. The bezel and the red date and red second hand give it just the right amount of sportiness, without losing the dressier effect. It looks great with the darker dial option as well. That's the thing about Rolex. There are just so many options, with many dial and bezel choices, you gotta be able to find something. A don't forget the Milgauss!(no date, but a very versatile beauty)
Cheers,
Carl

I do like the TOG's.

But they are rarer and harder to find good used examples... BTW I cannot get a new one.... too rich for me.

Thanks for the kind words, I've been around for a while but new here... rolex bug got me.

Bill

Where's the signature function? can't find it....

As a disclaimer, I'm bias toward the 36mm size (see my signature below). Here is a shot of my 8 1/4" to 8 3/8" (depends on the weather) wrist with a 36mm DJ on it. I think it looks great, but like I said, I'm bias.

you will easily be able to pull it off, anyone can wear a DJ.

36mm would definately be my choice, its not too small... hell my 34mm OP date isn't too small on my 7" wrists.

With age comes wisdom....Wisdom would be to get a DJ or DJ II to complement your sportswatch collection...

Go with the TT 36mm datejust. Its the perfect dress watch. There is no classier dress watch IMO.
