Well, and I can assure you that if the 3185 has been well and truly trusted (and I can attest to that), the 3186 has improved.

A mega-giant like Rolex wouldn't muck around and assign a new calibre unless they meant serious business.......and an improvement!!

At the end of the day, I got an incredible watch that is EXACTLY what I set out to get. I have no issues with the 3185, I just wanted the absolute latest movement available (more for the technology advantage than the investment advantage) in the most timeless watch available. I have always loved the Pepsi GMT and now I own what could be the last of them. I get giddy just staring at it. I love it. (oh, and just to make sure everyone is good and confused, it has the roman numerals instead of the sticks)

Good for you, glad you are happy and took a realistic approach and did not think this would be a investment, just a great watch to have on your wrist. As far as the sticks, they have been around since 2005, it is just internet bs stating that stick dials had the 3186. Congrats and enjoy.

I would have to see that to believe it.

The production stopped over two years ago and the first batch of 3186 seems were in the late Z serials and all of M.

After all of the people on this forum with such a huge knowledge base, this pops up JUST NOW?

No flame intended, just doughtful.

Wow so you have a 3186 which in reality is a only a slightly modded 3185, will the 3186 be any better or more valuable than the 3185. Well ask me again in 30 years time as only time will tell on that one.

I sent the watch off to confirm that it was all legit (given that nothing like this has shown up before) coming back P1 tomorrow morning. Will post pics then.

You know, I don't have any idea whether the GMTII with a 3186 will be more valuable than a GMTII with a 3185 in a few years or a decade or three decades. But the fact is many of us--me included--just want to FEEL as if our watch is something special, something "unique" (when we know it's not in this age of mass-produced Rolex)

Frankly, some here, not many but a few, try to poo-poo the advancements (at least that we perceive) that make us feel our watch is different from the rest.

Well . . . to them!

You may have purchased a watch that will be no more valuable than a GMTII with a 3185 or you may have purchased a watch that will one day be a collector's item.

Regardless, I think we should try to celebrate your newest acquistion with smiles and congratulations--not secret jealousy of new innovations or changes, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they may be to the so-called experts.

Very well said, King Kong!!

When I ordered my recent new Exp-II through DAVIDSW, I had insisted on a V-series 3186 calibre......and that's exactly what I got!!

I did have to pay a little extra for the newer model and calibre, but it was worth it in the end.

At least in my heart of heart I know that my Exp-II is indeed equipped with a new calibre which will not change for a very long time to come.

Well said Kong, and I agree. If I was getting my Coke now, I'd definitely want to look for the latest movement. Question is: Is it really possible that there is a NEW 3186 Pepsi/Coke availabe now? In my opinion, I think the chances are better that the movement was switched.... but... I didn't see it, wasn't there and couldn't tell the difference even if I was there... so... what do I know

Thank you, my friend!

Glad to hear you got the Exp-II EXACTLY how you wanted it. This is what it's all about.

Best,

KK (King Kong)

P.S. Hope you don't mind my new signature--think of it as respect for the legend--YOU--and prudence, since KKK is horribly offensive.

Exactly why, when I got my GMT-II (from DavidSW as well, actually), I wanted an M series- I wanted the new movement in the old style, not to add any resale value, but just because I wanted the most up to date movement.
