Is Sub no-date COSC certified or not?

I heard people telling the Sub no date wasn't COSC certified. Then, I noticed, watching pictures of it, some 14060 have a dial mentioning "officially certified" when other 14060 not... Can you please explain?

The ones that say Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified are COSC certified. Those which do not say it on the dial are not. Most 14060's are not COSC certified. They only started certifying them past 3 years (not sure about the years).

They started certifying them in the late Z serial numbers.

The movement 3130 is the same for both, and used in the Explorer 1, which has always been COSC. Seems odd, but true!

Exactly. What people need to realise is that the COSC cert is all hype and marketing anyway. My most accurate Rolex ever was a non-cosc model, it was a 14060. Many high end brands don't even waste their time sending their movements in for the COSC cert, they have stricter standards than COSC.

A watch with COSC cert is no different than an audio product with a THX cert. It's all marketing and, when dealing with a high end brand like Rolex, means nothing in regards to the accuracy.

A non registered movement can be just as accurate as a registered movement!

Please remember the one variable that is hard to simulate

is the habits of the person wearing the automatic watch,

which can effect the gain (+ or -) in accuracy in a given time span.

Anyway, I have been surprised to read about the COSC standards: the average daily rate: -4/+6 sec. That means a COSC watch can "take" 3 minutes every month...

All Rolexes are COSC capable whether they say it on the dial or not.

Yes... sort of...

COSC certification is just a test.. It doesn't mean that the watch actually performs like that, but only that it has been tested, received a COSC certification and is capable of running within the tested parameters..

If my watch was off by +6 seconds a day, I would have it regulated to within +2.. COSC or not..

Also remember that it's the movement that's certified, not the whole watch head.
