Like most generes for me I like some rap- some I do not. I was listening to Easy E & LL Cool J when one could only find them on "underground" radio stations way down at the beginning of the the dial. Later, Run DMC became more mainstream with their remake of "Walk This Way" (as mentioned in an earlier post).

Today... still very selective but some Jay-Z, Lil' John, Usher, Fiddy, Flo-Rida, Nelly, more mainstream stuff...

BUT, this video has to be one of the best rap videos of all time (You have to see this even if you don't like rap!):

www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw

(that's for me not being able to get the video to imbed properly, I kept getting a blank white sceen where the video should have been after I entered the code).

Like all types of music, I like many rap artists. I was a big fan of the go-go bands from DC in the early 80's i.e. Rare Essence. Rap is easier on my 40 year old white guy ear than country music.

At the Handle Bar in Greenville SC and at the live pre-show at Horizon Records (about 150 people). Did a lot of his new stuff which I don't know that well but some of the oldies i.e. King W/O a Crown, Beatboxing...

LOUD AND CLEAR Taffi!!

That was really interesting, funny, and shocking. Would you like to see more rediculous things of that sort? I am not sure if it is illegal to post the link, but here is a funny site with rediculous cars www.youdrivewhat.com
Some of those cars are so crazy. I must admit, I don't bond so much to the culture of Hip Hop Rap, it's the music that moves me, and moreover, the lyrics. I do have some huge gold and diamond chains, rings and bracelets, and I am very gaudy myself, but in my mind with me, I can honestly and openly say that these material things give me a sense of accomplishment ans an "I've made it mentality". I wear my gaudy jewelry proudly, this is about the only influence from rap or Hip Hop I have though!
I am a advocate of different strokes for different folks, but I just felt how I had opened myself up to other genres, why was it so difficult for others? And I do believe that any genre can carry a bad message, it may just not be as blatantly clear as in some of the bad in Rap/Hip Hop.

One last point, and I was truly ignorant to the meaning of modicum, I was just listening to a song called Good Mourning by Talib Kwelli. This is not to down you Taffi, but it made me think of my ignorance, and how some rappers like to use big words, but really say nothing.
Talibe states:
"Just because no one can understand how you speak
don't necessarily mean that what you be sayin is deep"
and thanks for that awesome pic Taffi!

Speaking of little Jewish girls, I like Amy Winehouse's music. I especially like her old school soul voice!
Maybe another topic.....

He is probably considered reggae. He does spit some raps but most of the rythmes of his music are reggae based.
