Hello from Dallas

I picked up my first Rolex from Bachendorfs at the Galleria mall. I tried to take a picture just now, but my phone doesn't take good pictures.

It is an Explorer II with a white face. I saw an ad for it in Wired magazine and had to have it.

I actually have only told three people that I purchased it. I kind of feel like people are going to judge me, question how much money I have. Even though its non of their business. How do you guys deal with it?

I've only had it three weeks, I wear it every day to the office. Nobody has noticed it and I'm kind of thankful. I'm 31 years old and I've always heard Rolex's were for older guys; but I've always loved nice watches. When I graduated highschool I purchased a 800.00 watch from Zales to build my credit. Ended up breaking that watch, by having it in the pocket of my jeans while it went thru the dryer a few times.....

I will surf the boards for all the other questions I have about the actual watch. I love it, feels great. Looks great with my dress clothes and when I have jeans on.

Take care

Welcome to TRF Roy!!
You have come to the right place to learn about Rolex and you have actually chosen a very popular model with many of the members here...Congrat's on your first Rolex and if you stick around here long enough,it won't be your last...

Hey Roy - great story! When I graduated from HS I bought my first "real" watch, a Tissot (which I still have BTW), which was a HUGE stretch for me at the time. I (and I assume you) have come a long way from that point. Enjoy what you have earned and wear it with pride!

Cheers -

Congrats on your watch. Great choice. And welcome to TRF. With regards to your question: Some of my colleagues and friends know about my watches and the ones who do typically are the ones that like watches too. The rest of them really don't care - and couldn't tell a Timex from a Rolex. I haven't met any negative reactions - but I have met people who just don't understand why I would spend thousands of dollars on watches.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I honesty do feel like its a club I joined when I purchased my watch. I didn't know this was a popular model, I just liked the ad. Guess it worked.

I just remembered the name of the watch it was a Raymond Weil Parsifal. Really clean simple face, and a nice bracelet. I was young when it broke to 25 pieces and didn't have the means to get it fixed. Wish I would have kept it. I have come a very long way from there. Guess the rough times make these; not so rough times seem sweeter then they may be? :)

Glad you still have your Tissot, those are nice watches too. I think in another 5-10 years I'll get another watch. If I can convince my wife. ;)

Ya'll take care, I'll be seeing you guys 'round.
