Laser Etched Crown on Daytona- Seeking Help

I have a Daytona, reference 16520, x serial. Today while driving I noticed a laser etched crown, located just above the "100" mark on the bezel.

I have not yet examined it under magnification, I'm assuming I'll see an "S", indicating a service replacement crystal in the bottom of the crown.

Has anyone else observed a laser etched crystal (original or replacement) on their Daytona, and if so which position on the dial or bezel would it be located? Again mine is just past the 7 o'clock marker, above the number 100 on the bezel.

I'll post some photos when I get home. Please Share your insight.

Thanks!

I am not an expert on Daytona's by any stretch of the imagination, but it sounds like your crown should have been at the 6 o'clock marker - maybe it is rotated a bit? maybe installed that way when they replaced it?

BTW - your eyesight must be fantastic if you can notice the crown while driving? Or your concentration on your driving needs to improve :-)

I have seen the logo in different positions at no date Rolex's. The watchmaker not give the logo
some attention when they put on the crystal. It's different with the cyclop then you always get the
logo at 6 o'clock position if you put the cyclop at 3 o'clock position.

Have you ever put the cyclops at the 6 o'clock position, Jocke?

Makes sense... can the crystal easily be rotated by a watchmaker? Should this even matter to me?

The etching is too small to see the "S" in the base of the etched crown. I suppose it shouldn't bother me so much because the etching is barely visible and it most likely guarantees that this is an original Rolex part, correct?

It shouldn't matter to you............. unless you are obsessive compulsive........ the Crystal doesn't know one way or the other............

I use to do that when I should try to find the logo.

I like the Omega logo smack dab in the center of the Speedmaster Pro Hesalite Crystal. I never saw mine until recently when I got a 10X loupe!

Found both of the etched crowns on my Series D GMTII and Series Y Sub. Funny...I thought the Y did not have the etchings.
