To panerai or not to panerai...that is the question. HELP!
Ok, I think I am about to pull the trigger on a pam00126. I am not sure if its because i want to know what the fuss is about concerning panerai or if its because of its connection to rolex. I do have an omega seamaster and a tag which i got before i really got in to rolex but now its been all rolex for 10 years. I tried it on and it looks great , its a little bulky even though i am looking at the 40mm. I wish rolex did a few limited editions or a power reserve complication....any way i guess thats why we love our rolexes...timeless and classic. I am posting a pic of the model even though if i decide to get it ill have it by friday and post my pics....so should i pull the trigger?

interesting PAM!
Do you like other models? Do you need a date and power reserve function and does it have to be on bracelet? |

i like this model i really because of the complication.. can i put a rubber strap on it? i like the one that says panerai down the side. does anyone on here sell them? I like the rubber strapthat stays clipped so it always is in one piece with the metal between as opposed to the two piece job that you have to put the rubber strap through the buckle every time. does that make sense???sorry for so many questions but i am new to this brand.

Yeah, you can get a deployant so you don't have to use a buckle.
Resale wise, it varies from model to model. The one you selected is middle to low for resale value. 40mm's just don't hold as well. There is no need to rush, give it some time and find the model that is perfect for you as there are MANY to choose from.

If I was buying a PAM I would go for the larger size.

I have been a fan of Panerai for a long time now but I just cannot get myself to like the ones on bracelets, with the cyclops, or the PR ones. I like the old simple look of the Panerai watches like the 1950, Radiomir, 111 and 112 models. I also love the California models. I just feel like putting all that other 'junk' on the dial clutters up the dial and it takes away the simple clean look of Panerai.

yeah i hear ya. i am a small guy and the 44 is just to big and bulky for every day use for me. i dont plan to sell it as it will be my only one so im ok with that. I need date and i like that PR complication. I dont like the bracelet either but it comes on the watch and i am getting it for a great price. So who can on this site can sell me that cool rubber strap with that deployment for a 40mm?

if you like it, buy it imo.
You can always look for the rubber strap and buckle after.... Im sure one of them will pop up somewhere soon enough! Have fun! |

I think it's a stunning watch and like you I find the PR function quite nice.
![]() My next Pam will be on a bracelet, but I tend to prefer the 44MM size. Like you I've been a Rolex guy for many years, but Panerai carries it's own history. True there is a connection between early Pams and Rolex and I've always looked at them as distant cousins. That said Panerai need not take a back seat to any brand when usability/ruggedness are considerations. Strong, good looking, and easily readable, My Pams get more notice than my Rolexes. The "presence" of the brand is amazing. ![]() |

Bracelets are good, just heavy. Wear it for a bit and see how it feels.

I am 5'7 and have 6.5 inch wrist and i just picked up a 44mm Luminor yesterday and it fits perfectly, not bulky at all. I purchased the 176 and the titanium is very light and easy to wear.
