Inside of the box...

The green alcandara leather kind inside of the box of my Rolex is getting a little dirty from use. How do you clean this?

No i mean the inside of the box. Not the small cloth. It got dusty and i don't know how to clean it. I called Rolex and they said they never had that problem before so they didn't know how to. I can't wear gloves every time i take my watch out of its box...

try automotive cleaning products (may be a good idea to give Audi a call, since they use very similar material for some of their interior pieces).

may also be a good idea to wash/clean your hands before taking the watch out?

Pack the original box up with all the papers, links, booklets etc. Put your rolex in a smaller box/case/holder and work from there. Your original box will not be damaged by use and that IMO is how to do it.

Just some of my H opinions.

I believe he is, Peter...

BTW, I'm sure Rolex hasn't ever experienced that problem before.

I pull mine out of the box
remove it from the form
staple it to a piece of plywood
and scrub it with a brush and rug cleaner
dry in the sun
Make sure to buy good quality rug cleaner though

I alternate between bleach and muriatic acid - rug cleaner seems too mild to get out the soil.

If you think that your box is more important than your Rolex, just take the watch out, place it in a drawer for easy accessibility and put the box inside a safe. This is what I do.

Ladies and gentleman,

Yes, it's early, but this could be today's winner.

Can anyone recommend a good safe? I have a number of boxes....

I ALWAYS wear at LEAST 3 pairs of gloves before handing my watches ESPECIALLY when taking them out of the box. That is a very very scary thing to do. I only will remove a watch from the plush storage box once I have vacuumed and bleached my floors, shaved my head with Nair, gotten a pedicure and brushed my teeth with a mixture of detergent, coconut juice and paint thinner.

Seriously, though. My boxes are in the closet 60 seconds after unloading the watch and never touched again until I "flip." The Rolex boxes are crap and would otherwise go in the trash were it not for the hit to resale without one. Never considered it for daily use, so I have no idea how one would clean it -- nor that anyone ever needed to.

Very funny< but what i have found is best for this situation is that i had NASA come to my home make me an air tight volt that is then set to a perfect 70% humidity ratio and 70 degrees in tempature "much like my humidor" i have a special space type suit that i put on before entering the first chamber, than after entering the first chamber i put on a diffrent suite to enter the actual volt then i can enjoy my watch and box all i want . But i never ever let the watch or the box out of the chamber so that dust molicules or anyother foreign objects will never be in contact with the actual product.

You took the watch out of the box? You're nuts, you just ruined the resale value. You went from a CGC of about 9.5 to like 7.0 right there. Whatever you do, don't wear it, unless you want to lose even more money.
