This is the Rolex General Discussion. Try the Open Discussion forum, because I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but how much you care, rivals how much I don't care to have to dodge this kind of stuff when I'm checking out what's up in the world or Rolex. You'd get the same reaction if you posted about watches on a hockey forum right now.

now that it is in the correctin of the forum, i would like to congrats the Canada team for a great match. It was a nail biting sudden death, but enjoyed the tension.
Would've loved to see the penality shoot out, but i dont think i could handle the pressure....

We done!

Shoot out would have been really fun, but I'm glad it ended the way it did!

Sorry but a penalty shootout should not be used to determine the olympic champion, let them play till someone scores. That's why the Stanley cup playoffs keep playing overtime periods, to let them settle it the way they it was meant to be played.

A great game and a great finish. I did feel for the US team as it could have just as easily been Canada winning Silver. Congrats to both teams for such a tight game.

BTW 14 golds is a new record for any nation! Woo hoo Canada!!!!!

Didn't see it, didn't really care about it, but...from what I heard on the news, it sounds like it was a very nice boost for the Canadian national psyche, and therefore I'm happy that something that meant that much to them, actually came to fruition, much like New Orleans winning the Super Bowl. Well done !

Agree.

It feels and sounds like the whole country of Canada would have collectively slit their wrists if they had lost to America...

But shoot outs are so intense! I agree with your point, but a shoot out for the gold medal would have been INSANE!

Well, it would have been a sad time across the second-largest country there is!

It's just a game, remember 2006 was won by Sweden, it wasn't the end of the world or hockey in Canada, we did recover. I didn't recall a sudden increase in people sliting there wrists.

Ashley it reminds me of soccer. They should use 1 less skater for every period of scoreless overtime hockey, then in the end only 1 player from each side is on the ice, now that would be cool.

I laughed at the name of the group on Facebook called "Sorry, were you dissing Canada? I couldn't hear you over our 14 gold medals."

More fun that the group titled "Were you dissing Canada? I couldn't hear you over my health-care benefits."

Bahahaha. Facebook groups FTW.

I agree, let them play until someone scores. I was hoping they would have changed that for the gold medal game, but it ended up not mattering.

I guess they need to do it with shoot out because they have a schedule to run with Olympics. For instance, they have the closing ceremony shortly after the Gold metal game.....they couldn't let the game go forever (even though it only took Canada 7 mins to send US home :)).
