Hello Friends,

As some of you already know, I just recently purchased the Panerai Pam 312. The watch comes standard with the black leather strap. I've worn the watch for three days and I can't get the leather strap to the 2nd last whole. It's currently on the 3rd whole and the watch is a little too loose. With the rubber strap I can move it to the 2nd last whole no problem, but for the life of me not with the leather one because it's stiffer. Any suggestions on leather conditioners that will help make the leather softer. Anyone else with this problem. I really like the versatility of changing the straps, in fact I plan on purchasing a couple more leather one's but not if I can't get them to fit properly.

Wear the watch with the strap for a little while and it will work itself into where you want it. I promise. Not sure how loose it is for you, but the best fit will allow the watch to move a little around the wrist, although never close to all the way around.

I'd HIGHLY recommend buying some after market straps as they'll make your 312 seem better proportioned. Not tho mention the smell, thickness, history, stitching......need I go on??

Thanks Bryan. I've changed to the rubber strap for now. Fits much better on the 2nd last hole. I'll give the leather strap another try in a few days. My plan is to buy after market straps from a local guy here in Toronto, but was afraid to do so if they remain stiff or take a long time to work in.

Neats foot oil, available at the pharmacy or glove and mit dressing.
These are natural oils found in leather. They don't get stale or sticky, soak into the leather and make it resistant to water and other substances.
Will darken the leather upon application but the original color will return in a day.
Rawlings glove dressing at the sporting good store works well...as well.

Neats foot oil works well. It will also darken the strap. In this case, that probably isn't an issue. However, if you want great results without any oily feeling and lack of color change, use Lexol conditioner. You can find it in leather shops and most auto stores like Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. Incredible stuff.

Lexol seems to work quite well on my belts, straps and certain shoes. No darkening, natural absorbtion and a natural sheen..(no gloss..)..

No oil... just let it be. After some time (week or two), the oem leather loosens up and you should be able to get it to the 2nd hole.

You and me are on the same boat. When I get a new oem croc, I start at the 3rd hole and make my way to the 2nd.

Been there,done that..... no treatment is best.Just wear it,it will settle after some time .
