Is this dealer for real?
Is www.melrosejewelers.com a legit used Rolex dealer? What about GKScott.com? Am I going to find original watches from them, or are the watches full of aftermarket parts? My wife wants a datejust with a diamond dial and I am a bit nervous to buy used when I dont know who is a good dealer.

Don't know what you mean by legit?
They are a "used" dealer with a great deal of imagination that I'm staying far away from. |

Have 'em verify all Rolex parts, pay with a credit card, verify yourself and if there's a problem, you have recourse. If they squirm, there's a red flag. If not, a great watch at a great price!

Ask for Peter (he is the owner). They are fair, reputable and have great used Rolex's. With all that said, I would still have any used Rolex checked for authenticity and parts. |

Seek out one of the great sellers here, like DavidSW or Oscar (Bodybump).

This place is known mostly for loading the net with vague stories and accounts of themselves, along with myth and lore about Rolex..
They sell legitimate watches to the best of my knowledge, but many are fitted with aftermarket dials and bezels so choose carefully... They are not an AD, so any rebuilds or overhauls may or may not have aftermarket parts.. Don't buy anything blindly, but know what you are getting...........

At least your asking questions before you buy, instead of ordering the watch then complaining about it. I never ordered for those websites but some of the bezels could be after market .

Their appraisal reports kill me! LOL! They just show new retail price for a brand new original Rolex when their watch has all kinda of aftermarket stuff like diamond dial, diamond bezel, and an 18K Italian made bracelet.

What is the consensus on an original watch with "custom" diamonds added to the original dial? Does that ruin the watch? I'm having a hard time finding the wife a datejust with diamond markers for under $3,000 that appears original. I think she may end up getting a Tag.

Shops who make up these dials have a huge profit motive, and diamond dials and bezels are popular add-ons on Roelx watches.. Make sure that it's the price you want to pay and that you are buying jewelry: recognise that you need to use an independant watchmaker for service and resale will not be as good as an unaltered watch..........

Some accessories such as diamond bezels and diamond dials are definately after market unless stated factory original. Also they do not tell you how old is the watch |
