I know when I am trying to find (authentic w/o aftermarket stuff) for the ladies watch combination, I am quite sure that most aren't genuine Rolex. mcl, what truly kills a Rolex is the addition of aftermarket dials, bezels and, bands. The stuff may look great but if the watch ever goes to an RSC for service, they won't touch it until it's restored to OEM specs. I can understand using a good aftermarket band for daily use thus saving the factory one for service needs or when the watch is being traded up or sold. It's like I told the 20 yr old when we added the header and aftermarket exhaust to his Miata. It may sound great and run like a scalded cat but, he'd better plan on keeping it till the wheels fall off because all that stuff has to come off before the car is traded for a new one. Mikey

No aftermarket stuff for me personally-ever.

When does the Miata stop being a Miata if you've rebuilt the engine, exhaust, suspension and put a whole new plastics package on it?? Once you've swapped out everything but the seat belts, is it really an authentic Miata? At some point it you are able to call bs on it and say it isn't an "authentic" Miata anymore period. Is it at that point it is a fake, or is it just how it represented?

I've never been keen on a modded Rolex, had a friend that had a DJ and DD the same as mine and purchased around the same time, difference is he did the overboard diamond studded dial, bezel and center links on the DD and did the dial and bezel on the DJ, his tastes changed from bling to SS sports watches, offloading two non serviced watches 13 years after purchase was a battle and a half for him, the AD and RSC would not touch them, so he either was stuck with some high $$ watches, or sell them for way less than the original value, and thats the way he went.

I'm a firm believer in keeping it original, the way they were designed and thats what pleases my eye from the first day of purchase all the way to today.

There are always options of the dial's with brilliant cut hour markers, and that is about as far as I would go on a mens DJ or DD :-)

100% Rolex is fine but what is one to do with a 1958 DD? Rolex won't service it even if it is 100% original. OEM parts are near impossible to find and may have to be hand made, they are called "watchmakers" for a reason.

Now Patek will service any watch it ever made no matter how old so 100% original is easy although they too may have to hand make parts.
