I have tried on a sub, although its a great looking watch, it feels too big. The Datejust feels a bit small for me (36mm). I am awaiting the new Explorer 1 in 39mm, This may just be the perfect size for me. Anyone else in the same situation?

Try a black-dial Exp-II. It's the same diameter (40mm) as the Sub, but the bracelet and case are much thinner, and the sloping fixed bezel makes it look much smaller on the wrist than the Sub.

All the function, but with a smaller look and more comfortable feel. You can't go wrong with the Exp-II.

Did I say that the Exp-II is a fantastic watch??

Sure is......but it's actually 39 mm and not 40 mm due to the fixed, sloping bezel.

I love the new Explorer, but lack of date and cyclops would be a deterrent, that's all. Otherwise, it's a beauty!! Perfect size of 39 mm too.

I have to say, I'm seriously thinking about flipping my 116200 for it. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on one from the first shipment

I feel the same way. I like the bigger size but I am still not sure what it is going to look like in person with the smaller hands. It looks disproportionate in the pictures.

Yes, I am excited. I have been vocal about wanting to see an updated, larger, matte Explorer for some time now.

I noticed something when I was looking at Jocke's Basel report. In the Explorer photos, I noticed that due to the matte dial, the shadow that is cast by the hands is visible on the lighter dial. That makes them look fatter and bigger than they really are (at least at a distance).

I don't know if that was a consideration when Rolex made the decision to use those hands, but it could be a possible motivation.

No,

I don't think 3mm makes a hugh difference in a watch that is otherwise the same as the old model(and that wasn't a big seller as well).

Sweet! I am not putting my name on any lists (so as not to tip off the AD to my level of interest).

I'm hoping this little shop I know of that never seems to move any inventory will give me a healthy discount in the fall.
