so i went into the intimidating AD
in my previous post i referenced my intimidation at actually going into an AD.. well i went into 2 yesterday. wasn't that hard. definitely a mindset thing. much more of an 'experience' then what i thought it be. maybe i didn't get the best salesman; he kept mentioning on how the new redesigned explorer is going to make the existing model a collector (like he's trying to justify the 58 hundo price tag)
anyways now trying to decide between the omega railmaster and the explorer. thanks all bill ps i did fumble with the clasp as i put it on |

Yes he was! Remember, they are not there to 'help' you, they are there to 'sell' you.

Both great watches indeed but a huge difference in price... if you are going the new route with the Exporer I then make sure you are 100% about it as you would take a loss in the aftermarket.

Which size Railmaster are you looking at? The Aqua Terra Railmaster strikes me as an excellent watch. I think it is 41.5 mm with good dial space.

My wrist is a round 7 1/2 inches and the XLL is too big for me. For Christmas 2008, I got a 39.2 Aqua Terra which is a nice size and then in October '09, I bought a 36mm black/silver Aqua Terra instead of the Explorer. Fortunately my round wrist lets me go large or small. I am very happy with both ATs and especially the "baby" AT which is so much more watch for the money than the Explorer.
Bill, if you decide to go the Omega route, PM me for my AD's contact info. His inventory, product knowledge, customer service, and prices are hard to beat. Fr. John† |

I would pick a white face Explorer, such an awesome watch. It's always right.

Get what you want price notwithstanding. That's what my wife told me; otherwise you'll regret it and be sad about it until you are able to flip it.

I'm not sure I buy into the whole "collectors item" hook...
I would think that right after the new Explorer II is announced, there will be a brief Buyer's market for the current Model... Just as I expect there to be a fire sale of the current 16610 once the new model is in stores... anyway...good for you for going in..the challenge now is not feeling guilty after trying on every watch in the place and not committing to a purchase.. |
