The Evolution of the Day-Date
How has the Rolex Day-Date changed in the last 25 years? I know that some of Rolex's other watches (Datejust, GMT-Master, etc) have gone through movement changes, bracelet changes, etc. Has the Day-Date gone through any such changes?
Thanks! |

In the last 25 years, movement changes. Then in 2000 to a solid bracelet with domed crystal and a few years back an upgraded clasp

Oh yes, I think that the first Day-Date was based on the 1030 movement and was given the Cal: 1055. I'm not going to hog this thread so let others add other Cal. numbers etc. Tylden.

The biggest visible change was the introduction of a 'supersized' 41mm version.
Asides from the increase in size, the balance/proportion of dial to bezel was also changed. The original 36mm remains in the product line.
