service question
can someone please put this question to rest for me. is it true that rolex will only service a watch that is purchased at an AD? We all know that the prices are much better at grey dealers but does this mean that if i have a problem I can't get it serviced by rolex?

You only get the warranty service on the new watch if you purchase it from an AD. The gray dealer usually offers their own warranty, or you can pay Rolex Service to repair the watch, if it requires repair.
Once out of warranty, Rolex Service will work on any authentic watch as long as you send money. |

what is the 'warranty service' though as compared to rolex servicing an authentic watch purchased at a non AD? Thanks.

If it's not in your name and still under warranty, you may have to pay to have it serviced as the warranty is not transferable.....My AD will do it for me but most if not all RSC will not.....Rolex warranty is not usualy needed unless something is wrong with the watch from factory..... After 5 to 7 years you should have a service done and that will cost some mulla no matter what for all of us.....Hope that helps!

so it sounds like if I bought at a non AD, the rumor that I can never get my rolex serviced by rolex is simply not true. Thanks.

Many of the GMD's will send you a BNIB watch with the warranty filled out with your own info, just as if you bought it from the AD it originally came from.

when the grey dealers buy from the AD's wouldn't they just get the blank warranty always, so couldn't they always just fill it out? Does it make a difference if its filled out from a grey dealer vs. an AD? is there a way rolex can tell?

Perhaps one of our experts can answer this question that keeps popping up. Is a US Rolex warranty transferable? Does Rolex warranty the watch or the person? I've seen this question answered both yes and no on this forum and others. Thanks.

I have a good relation with my AD who has an inhouse service center with Rolex trained watchmakers...He will do it for me.... Having said that,RSC will usually not honour it....Easy to get around though! Just send it to RSC yourself with all your own personal details but just in the warranty cards name....Can't see why that would not work!! Try your local AD first and see what they say....

Well with watches with like the Cal 3135 you will not have to worry about for many decades.Even watches with the 15XX series movements still plenty of parts around. But Rolex has put a time period of watches 35 years old and upward they might refuse to service because of parts, but plenty of independents around that will.
