16610 Bezel Insert from an AD?
I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere in for forum, but the search function is an absolute horror show to use effectively.
Recently picked up an LV through my AD. With the intro of the ceramics later this year, I want to my 'bases loaded' and get a black insert to switch out the green maybe during the winter months - not uncommon, I know. I asked at my AD - the same place I got the LV from and they told me I would have to send the watch back to Rolex for them to replace. Surely this is not true? Can I not just get them to order an insert? They also quoted up to $450 - again, this has to be jibberish. Before anyone asks, I made it clear I was looking for the insert and NOT the bezel. I would buy it through the forum no prob, but new ones don't come up very often, and when they do, it's usually too late to act. How much should I realistically be looking to spend for a new black insert through an AD... if that's even an option. Apologies if this seems like a dumb question - I've never been one to fool around with parts before. Cheers Chris |

Chris, I'm in the same boat, I think they are around 150.00 new. I think one source is getting some soon so just watch the for sale forum. I do know where you can get a Bezel with black insert for 400. This is for someone that does not want to spend a lot of time changing out the insert, they can just pop the bezel and place the black one on. I can PM you the name of the person if you are interested. I'm going to hold out for just the insert.

Inserts from a Dealer that has a parts account are about $50-75 bucks..
the problem is that Rolex doesn't sell parts to just any old Dealer... they have to have a watchmaker on staff who is capable of replacing those parts, and they then are supposed to follow Rolex policy. That policy is - no replacement of parts on different models...and there-in lies the rub.. The black insert is not an authorized part for an LV (green) watch.. So, it is generally done below Rolex Corporate radar..

Check with Steve Mulholland (do a search, your favorite) here on TRF. I also own a 16610LV and I ordered my genuine Rolex black bezel insert from him. I paid $150 which seems to be his going rate. Looks nice in green, looks gorgeous in black. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Any Rolex AD with a Rolex certified watchmaker that has a parts account can order you a insert. The most I have ever paid from a AD is $90.00, if you get quoted more, keep looking.

Thanks for all he input guys. I have a friend that had additional links ordered to the store. Is this a good indication that they have a 'parts' account too? Might swing by tomorrow again.

It's possible... but it's usually sales staff who size bracelets and install links........... that's probably why so many of them are scratched up.......

Here in AU, RSC wont let us keep the replaced parts.
I want extra blk bezel for my GMT, but if I send it to RSC, they will keep the orig. pepsi. But then I wont trust anyone to replace it apart from RSC. Tough situation |

Just make sure the watch is "stock" before going to RSC.

Cannot think why its a very simple job to change a insert, and if you want a insert from RSC.Then just remove your old insert and say you lost it and they will replace it for you. So you keep old one you removed, and any old type insert should cost no more than $75.

Hi Chris,
I just bought an LV and have ordered a black bezel insert to swap from time to time too. I believe the price for this should be around £40-50GBP. I suppose in $ up to 100. This is easily fitted, and does not need to be sent away. Hope this helps |
