Has anyone bought a watch from Portero?

I just bought a Turn-o-Graph (my first Rolex) from Portero.com. I plan on taking it to an AD ASAP to verify that it is authentic, within the 14 day return period.

Has anyone bought, or heard of, a watch from Portero.com (or Tourneau, who certifies the watch) that ended up not being real? If so, was the return easy? This one came with the box/papers, so I feel good about it, but it would be a lot of money to lose if ended up being a fake.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

You should take your rolex watch to AD ASAP and have it check out.

I saw those threads. I know that technically that makes the watch fake (and Rolex won't service it), so I would return if I found that to be the case. Can anyone say if that is common, or are they typically 100% authentic? Obviously, I felt comfortable enough to buy the watch, but I don't have the 100 % assurance that I would have had if I bought new.

From the ones I looked at in the 'Pristine' condition, the prices seemed higher than from trusted TRF sellers. I'm new here, but I'd think you might have better luck just returning it and having one of the sellers here find one for you.

I'm from San Luis Obispo. I don't have the watch yet, so no pics. I just ordered this afternoon.

If you have intentions of returning a watch, make sure you do it in the time frame the seller allows and make sure you follow thru with your Credit card co. or pay pal or whomever you used. Lots of sellers do not like having items returned. Be careful you state a reason that qualifies the return of the watch, this is very important. If the seller advertised Custom Parts you cannot say you did not know those parts were not original rolex parts. In one case people I know who were returning a watch which was sent back to them by the seller stating You returned it by way of UPS and we only except FED EX. Just trying to help you out, so if you must return the watch try to have all your ducks in a row. Good Luck

The watch was $4250. I think that's a good price. I have no reason to think it is not 100% authentic. Mostly, i am looking for people who have actually bought from portero to say if they have had a particular experience. Thanks.

Well, good luck I have never herd of Portero on TRF, that is a lot of money to put down on someone you have not even done you homework before buying the watch.

Did you ever hear of someone buying a used car, paying top dollar for it without a CarFax report, then after buying the car they get a CarFax report an surprise the car was in a wreck and the frame is tweaked. Now they cannot find the buyer to get any money back.

HELLO!

Usually people ask questions BEFORE they purchase.

I did a decent amount of research on portero before buying the watch. I first found out about the website by reading about it in the wall street journal. The company that certifies the watches, tourneau, has stores in a lot of malls that I go to. Honestly, I feel pretty good about the purchase. The reason I didn't ask before buying was because I didn't want to post the deal and have someone else buy the watch because they saw my post.

As I said in my original post, if you have bought through portero, or know someone who has, please share the experience. Please don't flame portero based on assumptions.

We did not flame Portero, we were asking why did you ask about Portero after you bought the watch. Now, you did your research, bought the watch and that is it, end of story, when you have the watch in hand, post it and see how we respond then.

TRF isn't a personal shopping service... This is a Forum for the discussion of Rolex watches. If you have something specific about the watch that the members can help you with, by all means share it..

I apologize for the previous post. I mainly don't want to see people posting something that could be portrayed as negative (i.e. by somebody else who is researching the company) about a company that they are not familiar with. The website sells a lot of Rolexes, so I thought that somebody here would have an experience to share. It looks like I'm wrong.

For what it's worth, here is the link to the ad. http://portero.com/rolex-turn-o-grap...ld-116264.html In a few days I will have the watch, and I will then take it to an authorized dealer and I will share my experience (if people are interested).

The watch looks fine by the photos... I don't know anything about the vendor but a search of Porter using the TRF search function doesn't turn up anything to set off alarms....

Everybody here will be interested in your watch once you have it in hand and you will get more information on it than you could possibly use.. The TOG is a very handsome and useful watch...........
