I had this exact problem with my Meisterstuck Classique and ended up sending it to Montblanc for repair.

Try immersing the cap in a basin of warm water for a few minutes(warm tap water) probably for a minute or two, that should expand the cap enough loosen it off

Would putting it in water make the metal rusty?
I would wrap it with a hot towel and try. |

Freezing can also do the trick as well.

I would think that the pen even if exposed to water should not rust.....the parts are not made with carbon steel or iron???

Would you recommend the same technique to separate the barrel for refill replacement? I have a 30 year old Cartier platinum felt tip pen I am unable to separate.

This is merely an aside, but PanAm, does your pen have metal cap-bands?
If it doesn't, I'd be VERY careful about trying to unscrew the cap. |

Hmm, I would not like to commit fully to saying yes as that looks to be a very expensive and rare pen. Ruining the felt tip is not a concern as it is probably dry anyway. I think I might go the route of using a hair dryer on low setting and about 10 inches away from the barrel to try to see if that form of gentle heat can expand the stuck joint enough to free it up.. Be very careful though!

No worries Allan. I had another thought, if it is all metal then maybe a little WD4O sprayed where the joint is might help?
Oh yes, love the Volvo in your Avatar. I was a big fan of the saint when I was a child and drooled over that car many times..Still do! |

Thanks for all the responses, my pen is the Starwalker with the emblem at the top.
I am just going to put it in some very warm water, and keep the top exposed to try and get it off! Is that ok? |
