Chinese FP

I’ve just received my new acquisition from ISellPens.com.
It’s Picasso #PS-81 fountain pen (cartridge/converter) titled “Girl in Flower”
Picasso in one of many pen manufactures (Hero, Duke etc.) based in Shanghai, China.

I’ve made the purchase of this pen for the sole reason of being a colorful pen and more as a conversational piece
It came in a nice gift box consisting of outer box, inner box and a hinged cosmetic box.

The pen is made of metal and it’s very well constructed.
Being made of metal does make the pen slightly heavy but not too heavy to discourage one from use as a daily pen.
It has striking combination of vibrant Blue and Yellow pattern on gold plated barrel, cap and clip. The same Blue and
Yellow pattern is done on the clip as well.

The gold plating appears to be uniformly applied and do not see any sign of thin plating etc.
The pen is medium sized and its length is 137mm capped and 147mm posted. The OD of the barrel at the largest
part is 11.3mm.

Comparing to other FPs that I have Picasso is one size larger than MB144.
The cap is snap on type with crisp snap and when posted it makes the pen somewhat slightly top heavy.
The nib is 10K “M” with Picasso logo on the nib along with marking of “10K” and “240”.

I have not had time to prepare the nib nor ink the pen due to lot of business travels (and GTG) but just as soon as my
schedule permits I’ll do a follow-up.

Gooooorgeous pen Joji! Never heard of that particular brand before but I sure know who Picasso was! The Picasso-inspired clip looks really nice and the gold/blue/yellow combination works really well. The colors makes me want to buy that pen too, seeing I'm Swedish

Carl, I'm not very familiar with Pablo Picasso's artwork however after googling some of his artwork
I can see that the design on the clip is somewhat of Picasso inspired as you've mentioned.

I'm trying to do a research on Picasso Pen Company (especially thier ties with Pablo Picasso).

The first image came to my mind after seeing the pen was "IKEA"

I like the looks of the pen too.
If it does not write well it will still be a great ornamental piece.
The packaging is incredible for the price level.

Carl, it was <US$100 and they are available in two other
color scheme (Black/white, Blue/L. Blue).

Finally had a chance to ink the Picasso FP.

I’ve chosen Waterman – Black for reason of Waterman ink being all around well performing ink with rich color and
smooth flow.

As previously mentioned the nib on the Picasso is 10K and “Medium” width.

A supplied Picasso converter took the ink without any problem (I’ve heard from others that converter is often a
weak point in Chinese pens) and the ink flow started immediately.

Picasso is not quite wet as the other FPs that I have but it does lay a nice line of fine to medium width
(very suitable for note takings etc.) on high quality Japanese papers.

Overall the nib is smooth with just slight hint of being toothy – I’ll continue use it “As-Is” and if needed I’ll give
brown bag trick a try.

Ian, the pen is slightly top heavy when posted therefore I do not post so that I can get a perfect balance (for me that is).

IMO - FP is most beautiful when cap is posted

Take a look at IsellPens.com for Chinese pens - Todd Nussbaum is a great guy to deal with.

Congrats Joji. The Picasso's are great looking pens. Looks like it has a nice sharp nib. I bet the toothyness will calm down with a little use.
