Rolex factory date stamp

Rolex once had a stamped 5 digit number on the back of the warranty card. This stamp allowed those who knew what it meant to identify when the watch was shipped from the factory to the dealer. I have not seen it for at least 5 years now. Anyone familiar with this!

Sorry, in almost 30 years of Rolex wheeling and dealing, I've never seen such a stamp. Do you have a picture?

I saw a picture in the book below:

THE ROLEX REPORT

Revised and Expanded 4th Edition

AN UNAUTHORIZED REFERENCE BOOK
FOR THE ROLEX ENTHUSIAST

by John E. Brozek

with a Foreword by Jeffrey P. Hess
(co-author of The Best of Time, Rolex Wristwatches)

So, you saw it in the book that long ago? Maybe he's talking about vintage watches...

Oldest papers I have are from a 910____ serialed watch, nothing on the back except a sticker with it's model number on it. Oh, and "Attestation De Chronometre Officiel" followed by the Rolex Logo and Crown of course.

My warrenty card has 5 red letters stamped on the back. It looks hand stamped. It is E 0WCH. There is a space between the E and the zero, at least I think it is a zero. Wonder what it means....

I think it actually is stamped OUCH! and represents the noise your wallet made when you had to lay out for the watch.

ROLEX WATCH
12345 67890

Therefore "L RETW" = "3 1486" = March 14, 1986

As for the example given above...

"E 0WCH" = "4 0690" = April 06, 1990

I hope this helps.

The letters you are referring to were in red ink and it was a date code as to when Rolex USA took delivery from the factory. I have seen them only twice. I think it went like this. I'm sure someone will clarify.

R=1
O=2
L=3
E=4
X=5
W=6
A=7
T=8
C=9
H=0

That explains why my older paper didn't have it... it's also hole punched so musta come from overseas.

Here's a weird one on the back of the SD papers CTCC ...Sept 6 1999, I guess.

These Red codes are only on USA watches all it means is the date,it was sent from the main Rolex USA distributor to the AD.And only then if they remember to physically hand stamp them.
