Feeling empty without my GMT MII
So I took my 16710 R series s/n U9... in for its first RSC service today and I'm feeling empty. I've worn that watch every day, through hell and high water, since purchasing it on Feb 21 1999. It keeps great time still, but I wanted to send it in for new gaskets, bezel touch up and general refurb.
It's been less than 6 hours since I dropped it off at the place I bought it from and I think I need to get another Rolex to make it through this period - the world doesn't feel right at present. I tried on a black faced SS Daytona Cosmograph (I think I like the white face better and they didn't have one). I also saw an 18K Daytona that was very nice, but didn't want to spend that much today, and left without buying anything. Ugh Anyway, I'm new here, reading lots of threads and learning so much. |

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm going to a few local ADs in the next couple of days to look around and get my fix. I can't believe how much being without a certain watch has impacted me. I've been wearing my 30+ y.o.Seiko Sports 100 (7546-6049) that I bought back when I was putting myself through school doing engraving and jewelry repair at a local jeweler. Nice as it is, this watch just doesn't have the same feel as a Rolex. |

So, finally after 8 weeks, my AD calls me - my watch is completely OAD'd and cleaned, plus I had them put a new crystal in it. I drive on over and see the watch looks exceptional except that it's got the wrong dial.
WTF, doesn't anybody validate repair orders? Rolex installed the all black dial, I had a black and red dial. The AD didn't even validate the repair prior to calling me. The work order and the "appraisal" of my watch all state black with red insert dial. Watch goes back to Rolex to make it right. So, with any luck it'll only be 3 months I'm without this watch. Such attention to detail. pffft. Neither the Rolex repair depot or my AD get any points for this effort. |

I think you mean black/red bezel insert.
That should be a 5 minute job. I agree, it is amazing that these basic things are unbelievable to get wrong
