I picked up a "J" series Esterbrook at a local flee market for $10. The sac was dried up and the nib (a fine manifold) had the ball missing on one side. I replaced the sac and ground the nib to an italic. The pen turned out to be a nice writer.

I have yet to try my hand at grinding nibs, but you inspire me.

By the way... Nice handwriting!

Thanks Richard. The following link is a good resource. I use 400 and 1000 wet/dry sandpaper and do the final smoothing with a 4000 grit Slip Stone from Japan.
