You see I just don't get this . My friend loves everything about the Milgauss EXCEPT the fact it has no date . So he decided not to get it. I don't know about everybody else but I just cant understand why that is such a necessity in this day and age let alone a deal breaker. My cell phone is ALWAYS on me It has the date, my computer is always on it tells me the date , my local newspaper that I get every morning even has the date on it , if my watch didn't have the date I am pretty sure I could even ask the person next to me "hey buddy do you have the date "

I mean if I loved everything about a watch the looks, feel , quality etc but it couldn't tell me the date that wouldn't stop me from getting it (if I could afford it ) . I don't know maybe it's me but I just don't get it lol.
I prefer to have a date feature on my watch. Although you could get date and time ...yes time as well on the cell phone So why the heck do you need a watch?

But that is how I have always seen a watch. I never had a watch without a date except my latest Daytona..And that might me the reason it does not get as much wrist time.

Yep, the Railmaster and one Speedy Pro are gone, and the other Speedy Pro will be on the block soon, simply because I want the date function. Great watches, no complaints about function at all. But, the date is something I personally have to have. For a while I was all about the gadget watches. Temperature, compass, etc. Once I started looking at "quality" watches, and bought several that I ended up flipping, I learned a couple basic but very important things about my personal requirements. I want a watch that has: Black dial (tried a white dial that looked great in the ad, but never looked right to me on my wrist), Case size of approximately 40mm, Date function, and a good bracelet. When I first started with "good" watches I was enamored of chronographs, but I've leaned away from them in favor of the GMT. In a 40mm watch, in my opinion, the chrono function and date end up filling the dial, plus I really like having the multiple time zone function more than I liked the chrono. Do I need those things? Nope. Do I appreciate them enough to ensure they are on my watches? Yep. To each his own, but that's the way I flip my cakes.

A good date is hard to find.
Especially on Saturday night.
If you choose to have a date make sure it is appropriately mannered.
Also check for monetary viability.

I never liked a watch without a date until I fell in love with this one, a 5513 with Spider webbing a true grail watch for me. Mine is in the watch repair shop and this is a photo I had in my computer for comparison.

Yes!

My Rolex is the first watch I've owned with a date on it. I never thought I'd need it, but I have come to rely on it. I look at it countless times each day, particularly because I need to sign and date many documents each day.

I like to have a date on the watch that I can instantly look at instead of cell phone, newspaper, or computer. BUT, that didn't keep me from getting the GV. And, yes, I do love the lightning bolt second hand!

Gents

I get that many of you WANT a date preferably 34 24 36 but when it comes to a watch would that be a DEAL breaker ? Would you not get the watch ? Me personally a watch is also a piece of art so to speak . I am not afraid to admit I have bought watches based entirely on the look and they had no function what so ever but I loved the way it looked etc.

So for those of you that said you prefer a date would that also mean you wouldn't purchase a watch without one no matter what ?

Reason I ask is my buddy has read the thread and keeps saying see told you so than I keep showing him pics of the Millgaus and Milgauss GV . Than he remains silent ;)

For work, I need a date so I stick with my Sub. For days off and weekends off, I don't need a date so my 2nd and 3rd watches don't have dates (GV and Daytona).

There is no chance that I would buy a watch that did not feature the date. I never know what day it is and neither it seems does anyone I work with - those with aged eyesight who have the wrong glasses on (and therefore can't read their own watches) ask me for it about three times a day as well. My mobile phone frequently has to be switched off (and when on, is just not as convenient as the tilt of my wrist), I don't work in an office - so no computer and I regularly check and fill out dated paperwork.

I use the GMT hand all the time as well but have no need for a chronograph. I can understand why some people don't need the date feature but it is slightly lacking in imagination for them to not realise why the choice of both should be available (particularly on the Professional models).
