Pelikan Script 1.0

Here's a quick and dirty rundown of this economical pen. I don't know if you can tell much from the photos, but I hope the review helps someone out. It's a nice way to try out an italic nib without breaking the bank.

Great handwriting! How long did it take to write that?

Printing like that, I think it was about 20-25 minutes. Printing is so slow and how I've written for many years. Since getting into FP's a while back, I've revived my cursive and I'm glad I did! It's much faster, smoother and less tiring than printing. I just can't do it very good with the italic nib yet.

Very nice John. I think you will find that writing with the italic or even the oblique nibs make writing just that much more enjoyable!

I just took three of my favorites to Sherrell Tyree and had her meister them. Came back with a left oblique and two lovely italics!

Omas Arco Dama went from a fine to an italic.

Montblanc 149 went from a fine to an italic.

And my Montblanc 147 Traveler medium nib came back to me as a left oblique.

Best $105.00 I have spent in years!

Very nice writing John. I didn't even know about the Script 1.0. Nice.

Thanks Richard. I have three pens in to Richard Binder for some work, but he has a three month turnaround. I may have to consider Ms. Tyree for custom work in the future. I think I recall you saying your pens were only gone for a few weeks?

I think I will be commiting one of my nicer pens to a custom regrind pretty soon, I just have to decide which and whether I want a full italic, cursive italic, stub or oblique.

So many choices!

I forgot to credit Dave (daveathall) for the paper the review is written on. It is the Classic Clairefontaine Clothbound Notebook he very generously sent me. I've really come to love this hardbound, full-sized book and use it all the time. I've become a Clairefontaine junky!

Thanks again, Dave!
