Took a pic of this recently painted.....

on a wall on the side of the road heading from my town to Jerez de la Frontera.....Let's see if we all continue to wave our flags now that the World Cup is over.

AAAAHHHHH Andalousia .. you can recognize the quality of building they have there immediately .
As the OP knows very well there is a agitated debate going on about the constitutional rights and the autonomous regions status . Spain should unite and not divide !

That's what we're hoping for...I truly hope this World Cup brought all of us here closer together, but I really doubt it. The flags have started to come down, the Spain T-Shirts have gone back in the closets and people have started to go back to normality. Just yesterday I was giving a class to a woman from Asturias and she started complaining about all the people in he housing community being "Rustic" I played along and had her explain herself in English, she said "Yes, Rusico, you know from the South, "Cateto"....Somehow I think she forgot she was living in Jerez de la Frontera. She pissed me off to no avail. This is the typical type of thought here in Spain.

I know what you mean Steve , for the Catalans and the Madrid "chulo's" in Andalousia there are only "cateto's" and "giri's" ...

I'm an American and could give a rat's rear end what they think of me, but I can only imagine if I was pissed off imagine the people who are from here in positions of power. It's a attitude that I have only witnessed here in Spain. Where I come from you are an American first then whatever region you are from. Not here, here you are never a Spaniard first, I think that's the problem. Everone wants to be autonomous and there isn't any solidarity at all. I was hoping this WC would have changed all that but from the looks of things here in the trenches it won't do much fo rthe country as a whole. Sad, sad, sad....
